And he also got knocked out by Hearns because of all the partying and drinking he did, and Hearns hit him on the top of the head and all that alcohol rushed to his head (Although he really got hit on the chin). According to Duran, of course.
I don't need to watch the video. He was being out classed. I've heard all the excueses He was being out classed. When presented with a chalange he failed.
he was out of shape, leonard was making fun of him, he didnt wanna get knocked out, so he thought he would do the macho thing and say **** you clown it obviously backfired on him, nobody likes a goddamn quitter
Duran was out of shape, but he was never hurt. I doubt Leonard would have hurt him, either. Duran was looking at a 15 round decision loss that night. I didn't watch the video, but isn't the inside story that Duran had gastrointestinal problems, and he quit for that reason? I heard he had to lost 15 lbs two weeks before weigh-in, then after making weight, went out and ate like a horse. Supposedly Duran ate way too much in the hours leading up to the bout.
Exactly. Which is why every fight he ever lost, he did so via quitting mid ring before the final bell could sound. There's nothing more to it. This case is settled. :roll:I understand not wanting to make excuses for fighters, but come the **** on, people. Do some research and conduct your thoughts based on logic.
Duran was out of shape and being clowned by Leonard so he quit, Duran did not want to continue chasing Leonard and knew that he would not win so he quit.
Err. the fight was almost dead even? Have you ever watched the ****ing thing? The truth is Leonard knew Duran would party his ass off after Montreal and purposely scheduled the rematch as soon as possible to take this into account. Good strategy on his part. However, a disciplined Duran, which there was not by 1980 at 29 years old, would have again beaten Leonard.
 SRL haters never cease to amaze me. I have never seen a fighter who beat such great Quality get so much flack. They make exuses for Duran, Hagler, Hearns..but Leonard? He loses to Duran, he takes it like a man. No exuses. Comes back toys with him, embarrases him, humiliates him in round 7..and makes him quit. You know what just for that ridiculous comment above...I am moving SRL up in my all time list.
Sure Sure. If Leonard boxed in Montreal like he did in the rematch, SRL would have won. Duran being out of shape for the rematch is vastly overstated.
