Does Margarito have a shot against Manny?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by BadassBenavidez, Jul 16, 2010.

  1. We all know this is the fight that's going to happen in November, so, what say you? Does Tony have a shot or is he gonna catch a beating?

margo is **** now. he has lost his concrete advantage plus his chin has been cracked. he is nothing more than a mayorga type journeyman now.

Yes he does have a shot. People let their personal feelings toward Margarito blind them from the fact that he's got some very good qualities in the ring. This is a guy thought to be one of Paul Williams and Shane Mosley's best wins for a reason. Yeah, his faults are obvious, he's **** defensively and he's got ponderous speed. But he's also offensively pretty intelligent, has an amazing chin that usually makes up for his lack of defense, good power (we think), very good body puncher, elite level stamina, very smart uppercut and is physically a very imposing guy in there. I don't favor him, because I think it's hard to find Manny's body, especially if you lack speed and I think that's key if he were to win. But if he can find that body he's got a good shot. So, yeah, he's a right ****, but no he is not a **** fighter. If he's not shot, he's got a shot.

If it happens, Margarito doesn't have much of a chance. He is the biggest opponent Pacquiao will have faced at Welterweight, but is the most open defensively, the least skilled, and the slowest. I think Margarito lasts a while against the onslaught, but gets stopped around Round 8 or so.

He doesn't have a shot. Margarito would have to be very fast with his feet to step on a mobile target with punches which he couldn't do against Shane. Some think that his chin and no pain no gain mental drive would take him thru Manny's volume and power... As soon as they start feeling that they gonna take as much as they have taken that far, they lose their guts and start thinking about their safety.

I agree. At 154 I think Tony will have a great shot. But at 147, I'll favour Pac more.

But if I had a say in this, I would advise Pac to not take this fight (especially at 154). I honestly think Tony is more dangerous than people give him credit for. Instead, take on and beat Timmeh Bradley. He'll get far more respect in the process.

Unfortunately Arum the f*cker won't even entertain this idea. Greedy *****.

I didn't see it either but, but I wonder how much you can tell between ring rust or fading too.

margo is a tough match up for pac or floyd for that matter, both guys would have to fight every minute of every round, neither fight like or hit as hard as mosley, margo will keep coming forward, i wouldn't be surprised if margo beats pac but i can see floyd doing a baldo on him.
