i think paul smith comes across as a genuine guy and has done well to get his lonsdale belt but anyone else think he just like froch has let his boxing become very scrappy and untidy? he would beat dilks but i predict it would be another scrappy win

Can not stand Paul Smith. Every time he opens his mouth he sounds like a scouser.

Paul Smith comes across really well there. Helps that what he writes actually makes sense. I agree with him about Dilks; he doesn't deserve a shot at all until he fights and beats someone like Quigley. However that is not to say that McDermott is deserving either.

He's had a couple of scrappy fights recently which I hope isn't how he tends to fight from now on. He falls into far too many clinches. Hopefully they were just because of awkward opponents. He seems like good lad though, very articulate. I wish him well.

    I agree with that.

He's not exactly set the world alight himself, so perhaps ought to keep his mouth shut when it comes to criticising others.

He's the british champ, has a few decent wins and has been chasing a fight with the european champion which didn't come off for no fault of his own. I think it's safe to assume he's achieved more than Dilks.

As for McDermott as a challenger..it's not great but it's better than no fight..and better than Dilks.

    No it's McDermott!

Seriously, Groves is busy, Magee doesn't want it and Warren won't put Degale in with him now. Who's left? And don't say Dilks, he's really not great. I suffered through the 12 rounds with Adamu..that's 47 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Though Smith did come across a bit arrogant (maybe it's just how I'm reading it) on Boxrec, some of the comments Dilks made were pretty childish - and if you do start making threads on boxing forums calling people out it's not long before someone is going to pull you up on it.

Some of the points were valid, might be just how it comes across.

Dilks needs to start beating some decent opponents before accusing people of ducking him :yep

    It's a well funny thread.

Not sure how anyone can have a go at Smith for responding to Dilks' comments to be honest. Dilks makes a song and dance about wanting to fight anyone, Smith responds. All seems fairly standard.

Got me laughing my tits off though.

McDermott is a good fighter but Dilks is legit too. Both are sub standard defences when Groves is Commonwealth.

Groves isn't busy. He is fighting and the end of the month. Smith vs Mcdermott will not be until October at the earliest. I guarantee Groves would be ready by then and will probably have a fight before then.
