You can't stomp a guy out or kick them on the ground, yet UFC is real FIGHTING?

I do not remeber Ken going for the balls; his first fight was Pat Smith, who he heel hooked with ease.

I saw UFC1 for the first time around January when my ship was getting ready to deploy and while drinking heavily at my apartment. I apologize if my facts on the event are off but i remember someone striking the **** out of someone's balls. While wearing a mankini. So sounds like it's right up Ken's alley.

 close, it was Joe Son's balls being smashed while HE was in the mankini. Keith Hackney was doing the smashing.

I was starting to get that feeling. the .gif that was posted didn't load for me the first time but i started going off of memory and i remembered there being a dude in sweat pants so it started to fight through the king cobra I drank that night and click again.

And it wouldn't let me reply to the .gif. But JESUS CHRIST! it felt like i was watching Ow! My Balls! or something:lol:

Never seen Ken do a nut shot - but Dan Severn did punch Ken in the nuts when he was trapped in a standing guillotine choke at UFC 6.

Most guys today wouldn't even make it through a tournament. They get too many injuries during the fight - but that's the name of the game. I know in UFC 1 Gerard Gordaeu went into his second and third fights with a broken right hand. Those old school fighters that wont those events were hard men.

do competitions get done without any sort of hand protection? If you train with handwraps and protection for your hands and feet, I figure they would at least use them in competition too.

... and add the fact that they don't use gloves back then.

those guys are pure warriors. not as skilled as today's greats but i have a great deal of respect for those guys.

Thats why i prefered the early UFC and PRIDE. Those men were really soldiers. No matter what they came to throw down. The GP format as far as im concerned is the pinnacle of MMA.
