Briggs gets vitali k

Errrr, Bill, you seem to be drunk/high or a combination of both.

He's been "overly-roided" up for over a decade. That's going to be a given, obviously.

Why WOULD it be a good scrap if he was 260 plus pounds when the man has some of the worst stamina in the last few decades of heavyweights and needs to lose weight if anything?

 

Look, be as it may with Briggs and the roids, he ain't never gonna see a lean 230 pounds ever again........

Briggs was too pumped and heavy at 267 and 272 for "Liakhovich & Iggy," but he still went 1-1-0 (1) KO there... Plus, Briggs went 24 rds between them two fights....... I feel Briggs would be best suited in 2010 fighting somewhere between 255 to 260 pounds..... Briggs can carry them weights just fine........

Asthma or not, Briggs' stamina has always sucked.... It ain't about to get any better at this juncture......

Even as a roided up hulk at 265 + pounds, Briggs still has quick hands..... But his legs are stuck in the mud....... Briggs no longer owns any real movement.....

Where do you rank Briggs in relation to Vitali's other opponents? Obviously behind Old Lennox and Chris Byrd, but what of the others?

Kirk "Whale" Johnson- An Obese and unhealthy 25lb overweight. Disgusting.

Corrie Sanders- Didn't train. Played Golf instead. weighed in 10lb overweight, and was huffing and puffing after 2 rounds.

Sam Peter- 15lb overweight. looked dreaful that night. Finally got himself back down to 235lb recently.

Arreola- Arreola was overweight by a good amount. In fairness, Arreola is out of shape in general these days, not just against Vitali.




Looks like Briggs fits right in here...Briggs is another who will be gassed and dead after 3 rounds. He is also what 40 years old? Hasn't done **** in almost 5 years. Outside of a last second miracle against an average WBO champ in 2006, he hasn't done **** this decade.


If Vitali wants to go out with a legacy, he needs to end with a bang...like with the way Marciano went out after dominating # 1 rated heavyweight contender and future hall of famer Archie Moore. He needs to fight top dogs ONLY or not fight at all.

VK had an easy defence in Sosnowski after having fought three ring ranked contenders, but now he should fight a live opponent again. Briggs is **** and boring to boot, with his 15 punches a round style.

I'm guessing this will be similar to Vitali vs Arreola, only this time the Arreola is twice as slow and inactive.

There is no reason Kevin Johnson should have been top 10 by Ring Magazine. What half decent even fringe contender has he ever beaten that should have been enough to propel him into the # 10 spot? Devin Vargas? LOL


Johnson, Gomez both rated # 10 and # 9. Both were barely making it in by the tip of their finger nails. Vitali has not fought a top 5 Ring Magazine guy since Sam Peter.

 

I agree that Johnson shouldn't have been ranked. But, the same can be said for various other contenders at any point in history. I'm just picking a random year here: in 1970, Jose Manuel Urtain (who?) was ranked #9 and built up a similar record.

So, Johnson's ranking was not a traditional anomaly.

As for Gomez, I think he was ranked higher than that. Certainly he was among the six best heavyweights in the world at the time, anyway.

Another factor is activity. Since his comeback, VK has fought 2-3 times a year. Most champions fight only once a year. His average of one contender per year isn't bad, though I agree that he should get in the ring with someone who is ranked before the end of 2010. Sidenote: Vitali isn't THE champion so I'm not sure if he should be held to the same standards.

 

Who says Briggs is easy to KO? He has only been stopped twice in 58 fights. The last time Briggs was stoppage was vs. Lennox Lewis in 1998.

Since then Briggs, has taken some pretty good shots without being stopped.

Well SuzieQ, do you think, Haye or Valuev will fight Vitali? I don't! Haye backed out of the fight once, and Valuev has said no thanks to the best offer out there.

Is there a top 5 fighter out there that 1 ) Has not been beaten by either Klitschko, and 2 ) Is wiling to fight Vitali?

The only one I see is maybe Adamek, but his management wants him to get more work and wait a bit because time is on their side.

As Chris said, Vitali who will turn 39 on July 19th has been an very active older champion. Face it, he's still being avoided at age 39!

When an older champion with a belt is offering large paydays to fighters who have no belts, usually fighters without the belts are eager to meet him.

I hope Valuev comes to his senses and takes, the best offer out there for him. I get the hunch Valuev knows he would be in for a sustained type of beating, and wants no part of the fight.
