A Watson rematch would be the logical next fight for him.

He showed guts last night, put together some nice punches, his nerves are still making him look ridiculous at times but he beat a good opponent and that's what counts.

Give credit where credit is due. It was a good fight and good performance and I had him winning by 2 rounds. He has now got 2 decent Euro level wins in a row and also should have a win over Lovemore N'Dou on his slate. But I hope he doesn't get a World Title shot firstly because he still has not done enough to deserve a shot and secondly because he is improving another defence would be good for him.

He did ok but he didnt win by 7 rounds for **** sake. That shot that dropped him didn't even look powerful at all so I dunno what happened there. But come on, Matthew Hatton fighting for a world title? That must be a joke. He'd get a beating he'd never forget for as long as he lives.

Senchenko beat Nuzhnenko for his world title, so why should Hatton not get a shot at Senchenko? We all know World titles mean **** nowadays anyway.

He looks to be ranked 15 with the WBA, I cannot see any higher ranking with the other sanction bodies at the moment. They could almost certainly encourage Senchenko to come over and defend for a big purse in the MEN.

I see no reason for Zaveck not to come on over either, whether he can win or not against either is another thing.

If I was Ricky I'd have my purse out and give Matthew a crack at both if possible, he has nothing to lose, he could lose his European title in his next fight and be back to square one.

With the European title, things become a little more credible.

Thats not how boxing works. Its not "fair" but, because of his connections, Hatton has got himself further on than Watson, theres no chance he'll fight him again.

    Totally agree.

Plus he deserves credit for walking in to 'The Best' from The Karate Kid.

    Fair play to Matthew Hatton.

Good win and good performance (I know I'll get slated for saying the latter, but I genuinely thought it was a decent scrap on Friday). I've said for a while that he gets far too much stick. It's not his fault who is brother is. While he's getting in the ring and doing the business then he deserves as much credit as any other fighter.

Well done Matthew and all the best going forward!

He deserves credit for Friday, getting off the floor in the first to retain a European title against a former world champion.

He has undoubtedly improved and is to be commended for that, is he the best in Europe? Of course not but many European champions are in that position and its hardly his fault.

Can he win a world title, you would think not but Zaveck and Jackiewicz square off again in September, I see no reason that Hatton can't compete with either man and with home advantage who knows.

It would be the biggest turn around ever but despite the stick this post will get I think he deserves credit for what he has achieved with not great natural skills but basically bloody hard work and a huge amount of personal dedication.

He is not the most talented by a long way but give him a break, he is a British European champion who looks likely to get a world shot, best of luck from me.

I taped the fight and will watch it after work today...

But, I'm terrified that he's going to land a massive fight if Pac Man and Floyd can't negoiate...

Yeh credit where it's due.. it looked as though he was going to get schooled after he hit the floor but he didn't and at the end of the 4th his cross hitting combo was excellent. He deserved to win the fight.

What annoys me is his persistence to try and carry on the Hatton dynasty. There would be far more credit for his performance if he came out with minimal fuss and without the same entrances his Brother used to use. He'll get more credit if he distances himself from ricky.

Will say that his post fight interview was a lot better (as far as like-ability counts) he showed humility and was realistic with his performance.

1 more defence before anyone talks about a title fight.
