Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of his first win over Hopkins, he did an interview with the local radio station, and gave an update on his status. He says that he has every intention of "coming back strong", he's just taking some time off. He has a birthday coming up in August, after that he said he is flying to Miami so he can meet with Pat Burns face to face and ask him if he thinks he can get back on top. Says he respects Pat's opinion and knows he will be honest with him. Assuming Pat is down with it, he said he will go back with Pat as his primary trainer and look to make his comeback late this year or early next year. If this happens I hope JT comes back as a MW, I know much was made of "making weight", but I attribute a lot of that to not having a real trainer since the first Pavlik fight (Manny). While I don't advocate Jermain coming back if his health isn't 100%, if he is going to come back, I would feel much better about it if it involves Pat Burns. Pat lead him to the top, after the second Hopkins fight is when things took a turn for the worse, coincidently that's the same time he left Pat. Pat emphasised the jab (one of JT's greatest weapons during his prime/peak) and always had JT in shape. Just thought I'd pass it on for those that might be interested.
I don't know if many people will agree, but I would actually like to see him come back. I know hes been stopped brutally in his last two fights but he was up on the scorecards both times against big punchers who managed to catch him, could have happened to anyone. Move back to Middleweight and start from scratch Jermain.
I would also like to see him return. If his health is good and he is mentally ready then why not. Thank you for the update... am a big fan of JT
he was ahead in both fights, he giot knocked out with only few seconds to go in the 12th in both fights, i think his fitness is a real problem, who knows he could do sumfig decent still and i hope he does, starnger things have happened
I agree. In both fights he was very compatible also on the scorecards. Probably a good decision to drop out the super six, but i would have loved to see him fight Ward. Ward who is so similar to Hopkins..........:bbb
I think he was behind against AA, can't say that for 100% fact, but I'm fairly certain he was. He could have taken two knees against Froch in the 12th and still won, but I'm not sure about AA. Either way, the man can be a factor, but I would think that he would need to stay out of Super Middleweight until he restablishes himself then go up and fight someone like Ward, rather than Bute, matchmaking is going to be key until he strings together 4 or 5 wins and gets some gold. If he does in fact stay with Pat Burns you'll see a different fighter than the one you've seen lately.
"Scoring after the 11th round: 105-103, 107-102, 106-102, all for Abraham " http://boxrec.com/media/index.php?title=Fight:1433579 ...Leading in points my sweet, beautiful ****...
I had Abraham very clear and I'm a fan of Taylor even thought he would outbox AA but I couldn't be further from the truth.
But how do you score this ?. The active fighter trowing jabs and strait rights/lefts vs. the guy being passive an inactive holding both hands/arms to protect him self..............? Froch vs. Abraham coming up......................:bbb
Um...I scored when Abraham punched Taylor in the face and didn't score when Taylor landed jabs on Abraham's forearms and gloves...is that wrong? :conf
To be fair I've only watched the Abraham vs. Taylor fight once and that was on the big screen in the Nottingham Arena while i was waiting for the Froch fight to start, i was pissed up and biased as hell, my bad.
