i've been a big taylor fan for a long long time. he's great for the sport. if he can swing it physically and his health is there....then go for it jermain. jermain said in the lead up to the abraham fight that he never really trained like he should have nor watched what he ate, etc. if that really is the case and not just some marketing gimmick, then i think he could make mw.
I had AA well ahead when he lowered the boom and Taylor looked well past his best in that fight. His punches lacked snap and mostly bounced off AA's guard, then he faded later in the fight as has been his problem for a while. If he's medically cleared and builds up his stamina, he can be a factor @ middleweight and I do like the idea of him fighting Ward. What I like about JT is he's got a big heart and does not avoid anyone.
Taylor was also docked a point for "low blows", and the fight was in Germany, no way was he going win a decision without doing essentially what Dirrell did. Taking that into consideration and the final scores he was obviously in the mix.
abraham schooled him and then KO'ed him, Taylor was nowhere near on top. and he was only one or two rounds ahead of froch but he was out on his feet in the 12th. Taylor is done and needs to walk away from boxing for his own health.
...I'm not sure I could give my opinion much more clearly. I had Abraham comfortably ahead, Taylor was rendered fairly ineffective, the judges had Abraham ahead, I guess, the source says all three of them...What isn't clear about my opinion? Abraham would've definitely won if the knockout hadn't happened. He controlled the fight. ...
I comment you comment on scoring hits to the hands/forearms and asked how your would score this vs. and inactive defensive fighter. I could see Froch and Abraham have the same amount of clean hits - therefore the quistion.............
Agreed, I think that would be an interesting match up, and would be a decent payday for both, not stupid money but good money.
Taylor is all athleticism and zero ring smarts. He has putrid lulls where his hands are down and he is a danger to himself if he fights the top dawgs. Hopkins was robbed by Duane Ford in the first fight. Ford gave Taylor round 12. If he gave HOpkins round 12 the fight is a draw and Hopkins keeps his title. Watch round 12. Taylor landed 1 or 2 punches max. One of the worst scoring/fixing jobs in boxing history. Took away a legends title in the midst of a historic streak of 20 defenses. Taylor should have had to KO hopkins to get that title. Taylor was out on his feet in round 11 and 12. It was a disgrace.
