Which Option Do You Prefer: Margarito or Cotto?

Margarito. Theres no point in fighting Cotto again, the first fight was decisive. Not that a fight with Margo would be close but still.

 

I'd prefer him to fight Alexander or Bradley too. Better fighters than Margarito.

You are not going to beat Pacquiao by brawling or fighting. Nobody has ever troubled Pacquiao like that in recent history.

 

Oh I agree, but out of the two options it has to be Margarito all day long. Look, none of this is ideal but I don't think we can blame Pac and Arum too much here. The "plan B" was always going to be an in-house fight because it's easier to negotiate.

 

Apparently they tried making a third fight with Marquez earlier but Marquez wanted a 50/50 split plus olympic style testing, so they went with Clottey instead. Not sure if that's true but he does do too much talking and I wouldn't mind seeing Pac give him some humble pie.

 

I'd say neither.
I want Cotto to build upon his work with Steward. I'd prefer he take on Margarito in rematch at 154. I totally given up caring who Pacquiao fights now. Margarito just presents another Clottey for Pacquaio in terms of taking shots on arms and body but at least he would attack which Clottey failed to do.

 

Marquez would be pointless. He's not the same fighter above lightweight. Pacquiao is a beast at 140 and above.

I think that ship set sail a long while ago if they wanted a meaningful conclusion.

 

Margo for me. Cotto's move up to 154 hasn't improved him significantly enough to trouble Pac IMO.

Margo def has the ability to beat Pac who is by far the smaller man. Cotto is definately the safer option IMO

 

Like being the bigger man matters. That's been a disadvatange to Pacquiao's last 3 or 4 opponents rather than a great help. Being big does not mean **** unless you can impose that advantage on the opponent. To do that you really have to be able to pin down Pacquiao to use the strength advantage and Margarito is woefully short of being able to do that. Pacquiao runs rings around him all night and wins an easy decision.

 

Pac will knock him out imo.

 

Either that or be clever with your punches/footwork to take his workrate away.

Marquez did that last time (and IMO was a clear winner 115-112) but nobody else has come close since then.

 

You are probably correct, late stoppage. Margarito doesn't have much in the way of defence unlike Clottey despite his toughness so that was probably optimistic of me to expect a 12 rounder.

 

Ciguel Motto.

Although it would probably be a boring fight with Miguel attempting to replicate what he did in the first few rounds of their first fight, except this time not losing his discipline and getting tagged too much.

Margarito would just be like the Clottey fight.

 

I'd detest Marg getting another shot, doesn't he still need a license in the US?

Bradley, Alexander and Berto are all far better fights than these two...but I wouldn't mind a rematch with Cotto I suppose if him and Marg are the only options. While a Steward trained Cotto at 154 still wouldn't emerge the winner I reckon it would be a closer fight.

 

Rather see him face Mosely, think Mosely beats him.

Not going to happen though.

 

Losfer it has to be Margarito.Pac beat Cotto bad there were no excuses or reasons.
Although i feel Pac will make Margarito look like a ****ing pinata his speed is so great compared to Maragrito
