what he said about tim bradley and williams was ****ing embarassing, i cant wait till him and king die ****ing leeches
I know. What a ****ing disgrace. "I would be footing the promotion blah blah" Arum doesn't care about future boxing stars because he is like 83 years old. He wants to milk pacquiao, then get the big pac/may money, then die. I understand that boxing is a business, but it's a business he has no vested interest in 20 years down the road. I'm 27 years old, I want pac/may obviously, but I also want to make sure I have something to watch in 2020.
pretty much, it's sad how top incest matches their fighters up in what i legimately think are somewhat fixed fights. GBP refuses to match their fighters with any legitimate threats, in house or out. Don King Productions actually has been setting up more challenging fights for their boxers recently, which is to think about
He wants to keep things in house. All he is concerned about is how much he can make. Bradley and Williams he probably feels he can brush off with no real concern, Mayweather he knows he can't and so has strung this whole thing along and tried to manipulate it to look like he does want the fight for Pac. I am convinced that both Pacquiao and Mayweather want to fight each other. Pacquiao needs a new promotor. I would love to see him and Mayweather self-promote with help from Golden Boy and for that scumbag to not get one single dime.
I read a cox's corner article and the dude raised a great point about how modern prospect boxers are basically commercial products instead of athletes. and that is 100% true. they're matched up easily so they can maintain undefeated records(even flawed fighters like ****ing andre berto ) until they get a strap. from there they take 9 months to make 1-3 title defenses against cans. Then they get a big money fight. If they lose 2-3 times their career is done and everyone calls them shot before they've even had 50 ****ing fights. no wonder nobody takes big fights, a loss is so damaging to a fighter these days. look at what khan for example has had to do to(and will have to do) to resuscitate his reputation after prescott. It's ridiculous. All the best fighters in history take challenges and sometimes they lose. Some dude out there has a style that can beat yours. some dude shows up with better physical/mental preparation. Losses are acceptable in every sport today except boxing.
I wrote an article on the main page about it like 5 months ago... something like Boxing: sport or sport's entertainment? I brought up the switch from match ups to PPV numbers and gates.... This **** has been going on ever since arum and king got control. GBP is just as bad. They would rather have 10 charismatic c levels fighters in their stables beating each other up than ever have a gold medalist amazing fighter with no personality. I understand business-wise, but if the product doesn't deliver with MMA knocking on it's door, you need to step **** up.
the system needs complete restructuring, in regard to promoters and sanctioning orgs. I get the feeling a lot of the orgs are actually in serious financial trouble, which would be nice because they might all fail except for one and there would be some sense in determining champions. The PPV model needs to disappear. It keeps the public from seeing any good boxing and it slows down talented fighters from matching up. I wish there was something the fans could do but it seems boxing in america is nearly doomed to failure. The saddest thing is that there are a lot of upcoming prospects that i've been watching on ShoBox, Solo Boxeo and FNF. And honestly a lot of belt holders could be pretty great fighters but with boxing in molasses the probability of their talent being showcased is slim
It reminds me of when I was a kid and all I wanted to see was Ric Flair vs Hulk Hogan.... The top bad guy vs the top good guy. But it never happened for the same reasons this **** isn't going down. Boxing = WWE.
All promoters, @ one or more points in their careers, lie. It just so happens that Arum can manipulate and lie better than the others IMO.
