Ward is better than Calzaghe. Ward is a gold medalist, has defense, and has mastered the fundamentals of boxing. Joe was a slapping idiot with no defense that fought zero punchers in his entire career.

There really isn't a comparison. Ward is a high ring IQ fighter. Lacy was never that.

Think the point is that if we had asked this Q befre lacy was beat, you would have gotten so many responses saying how uber lacy was,

One other person on here with an ounce of intelligence. Ward hasnt actually boxed in some time. Because he's fought his recent fights in Oakland he's been allowed to get away with bull**** that would have an MMA fighter DQd. Ward, when he chooses to fight or box(which has been rarely as of late) he's nothing more than a poor mans Andre Dirrell. This obvious fact(to me) will be known to everyone when the two meet. After the destruction of Ward I'll come on here and am sure I'll see 30 threads stating how Ward has been exposed as a hypejob. Dirrell right now(nowhere near his peak) beats any version of Calzaghe 99 times out of 100. Dirrell would have every concievable advantage over Joe.

Ward wins wide. Better fighter by a pretty distant margin.

Lacy would at least try harder then Green did, but still.... this has shutout written all over it.

That was a NC after I believe 3 rounds and Lacy was well on top, the rematch after the Calzaghe loss was a different story.

In answer to the thread question, I think Lacy would enter as favourite and I think due to styles it would be a good fight, Lacy has the punch to hurt Ward who has been down against lesser fighters.
I think it would be a close fight with Ward slightly edging it, but I wouldnt have bet on it, and even knowing now what I know, I think a confident pre-Calzaghe, Lacy would make it a good fight

The right now Dirrell beats any version of Calzaghe part seems a bit of a big statement when in Dirrells fight before he lost to the limited Froch and in his recent fight, won by DQ against a small former MW champ with a limited SMW resume and no real noteable wins at MW and ended up KOd in that fight by a fighter that was taken the distance by a former WW, who had been beaten by KO at Commonwealth level in Britain.
Dirrell hasnt achieved much yet and your saying he would beat a SMW that had 21 defences was never beaten and won WBO WBC WBA IBF & Ring titles.
I agree with what you were saying about Ward being able to get away with alot in his super 6 fights so far

Pay closer attention bro when you follow a fighter. The rate at which Dirrell is improving is blinding.....Right now Andre Dirrell would give a boxing lesson and shutout Calzaghe. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. Can you tell me what advantage Joe Calzaghe would have over Andre Dirrell? I'll wait........

This must be one of those trick questions. It's so obvious.

In fighting, chin, ability to change plan in the middle of a fight, better combination puncher, ring generalship, experience, I think Calzaghe had better hand speed also, prime Calzaghe I think was a better puncher, natural toughness, Calzaghe knew how to cut fighters off, Calzaghe did have foot speed also when the mood took him though wouldnt say he had an advantage, Id guess stamina also

direll is improving but beating joe c would never happen 46 tried and 46 failed. his style, his work rate and the way he could adapt to out box his opponents direll would lose by UD :bbb
