This publicity stunt/public manipulation worked perfectly: The public believe Manny wanted to fight (and agreed to all demands) The public believe it was simply a matter of Mayweather's signature = a fight on his terms The public believe the deadline was fair game and all negotiations were done in full co-operation with Mayweather And now...the public believe Mayweather is afraid So now Mayweather is in a lose/lose situation and Arum just ****ed the fight up This "Mayweather is afraid" talk has added to Manny's aura of invincibility...hence the fight looks less intriguing. If Floyd agrees to fight it's "because he was forced to save his image". Of course this is all public perception and I'm generalizing based on comments I've read on different sites and people I know We all know the real reason, well in my opinion.. Floyd wants a fight on his terms and on his watch Mayweather needs to do something to save his image.. a full explanation followed by agreeing to fight and beating Pacquiao might do it
You make it sound so complex. The people want the fight. Arum could have bashed Floyd, but he didn't. Floyd means money to Arum as well. Arum gave Floyd a reasonable deadline. We have deadlines everyday. You don't tell your boss what time you feel like coming in. You don't tell your teacher when the tests should be. Floyd isn't above everything. All he needs to do is say something, anything, to keep everyone informed of his intentions of fighting Pac. If he stays silent, people have the right to pass judgement. My guess is Floyd is staying silent because he's run out of excuses. I think he has a good excuse if Roger's situation is the problem. But his pride won't allow him to discuss family issues.
I don't think he cares much. The more pressure the further he walks away, laughing and not giving a ****.
I agree with you. I dont think he gives a **** now. After giving Al Haymon the go ahead that he agrees to the terms agreed. Then ended up going into hiding. That sure is a sign he's ready to self-destruct. :good
