I like the idea of a fight with Kampmann.

If Shields closes the distance he can take anyone. Shield's stand up may be awful. Henderson bounced a seemingly fight ending right off his head before being dominated for over 20 minutes, but that was at 185.

It's either knock Sheilds out, or lose. That goes for GSP, and maybe even Anderson Silva. Shields' ground game is that good.

Glad to see Shields back at his natural weight: Jason Miller, Robbie Lawler and especially Dan Henderson are some big middleweight scalps to take, but 170lbs is where he belongs.

His finishing rate at welterweight is a lot better, he hasn't gone to decision since April 2006.

Shields stand looks bad, even on the pads. This is the fight where GSP could show his stand up in all its glory and avoid the ground. However I want to see him grapple with Shields. It would be like GSP saying he is unstoppable at grappling no matter who he faces.

I think Shields gets beat by 3 or 4 of the UFC WW's including Dan Hardy.

Me too !!! , any of the top WW's avoid TD's by Shields & they have his number IMO , if he gets you on the ground it gets tricky !!!!

Shields would do to hardy exactly what GSP did. Hardy isn't that good, and his power is hugely overrated.

If Shields could dominate Henderson, he would have no issue with a one dimensional fighter like Hardy. He is on a 14 fight winning streak that includes these names:

    Dan Henderson
    Jason Miller
    Robbie Lawler
    Paul Daley
    Nick Thompson
    Mike Pyle
    Carlos Condit
    Yushin Okami

If all of those fights had taken place in the UFC, he would easily be considered a top 5 P4P.

100% and despite the fact he isn't pleasing to the eye, I definitely consider him a top P4P.

UFC hyped Daley as an eliminator level fighter. Condit is the man chosen to rebuild Hardy. Henderson is a bad man. These wins are top quality wins.

yeah shields is good, I do like that he is going back down to 170 (in SF his teammate nick diaz has the belt that he vacated) in the ufc he will -if he wins- will move up the p4p rankings currently according to sherdog rankings he is #8 ahead of him are guys like:
    Jon Fitch
    B.J. Penn
    Frankie Edgar
    Jose Aldo
I personaly put him at #4 p4p behind #3 fedor (#1 silva then #2 st pierre) when he enters the ufc if he wins agaist kampman his status will soar with the hype machine behind him.
shields striking is not great but better than most at welter though he doesnt have ko power even in his gnp.

Shields has some good solid wins under his belt no doubt about that , i dont want to dis credit any of them but you do have to look at the likes of Condit and say they have evolved since fighting Shields and may provide a much sterner test nowadays , Dan Henderson was in the worst shape of his life when he fought Shields and was gassed by round 2 , then Shields wrestled him for 4 rounds and got no where near forcing a finish !!!!

Shields has to imrpove his stand up , or somebody's knocking him out soon , and i dont think he ever can do that , his striking is so un natural he reminds me of Brock Lesnar , he really does look un comfortable on the feet , i think Shields will be somewhat of a nearly man @WW in the UFC getting some decent wins but will be beaten numerous times !!!!

As for the P4P ratings go , i dont see it realistic to have him in the top 10 through lack of stand up ability , a man with that sort of hole in his game cannt IMO be ranked with fighters who are superbly well rounded !!! :deal
