A November date for essentially the biggest fight ever is bad. People will be focusing on spending more for holidays, just think, a likely 70$ (For those of us who have to pay HD cost) for this PPV. Yet Halloween will have passed, Thanksgiving coming up, Christmas and New Years the next month. If the do it next year, they get more money, they get more people focused on the fight. They likely do it the saturday after Cinco De Mayo. Just look at it, the half ass looks of negotiations. You know how the negotiations went? Arum - Do you want to do it in November? We could get more money if we set a fight for May next year. (This sold everyone) Just think, the chance of Roger not being there, more money to be made next year, half ass **** negotiations (lol), and Arum defending Floyd. Quite simple. This fight gets made next year. If it doesn't, and Mayweather doesn't fight Pac, then he ducked Pac. Simple. But the fights going to be made next year.
^ well it backfired for them. I kinda cared about this fight post pac-cotto. Now i dont care about it at all.
Your excuse also works with Haye:good Haye fans can learn a thing or two from you. Nobody ducks anybody as long as they are alive :good
Eze, I agree with you but here is the damaging part for PAC, if he takes on a Bull**** Opponent like Cotto-Margarito then the low PPV numbers are gonna make it that match harder to negotiate the 2011 bout, as Mayweather will try and leverage that to his advantage as to why he should get more, and is worth more......So if 2010 fell through, I am thinking 2011 will also fall through...And even if Roger (Druggie Junkie ****ed up degenerate) gets locked up, what difference would it have made 2010 vs. 2011, personally I think that a November fight would still make money, this time of year is really cold in the states, with daylight time change, it starts getting dark at 6pm.....This would still be successful......... While I see your point as 2011 would be better for them for some things, I don't think this bout is going to be made, ever.
I think they've agreed to terms already. I dont think fighting Margo or Cotto will hurt Pac. He has too many fans who will cheer the 8th weight class title despite how little it means.
Couldn't agree more with this entire point, contingent on Pacquiao agreeing to being adequately blood tested.
That doesn't make much sense. Closer to holidays, most consumers are in a spending mindstate. They will fork over the money quicker. Everyone will also be in a festive mood so they want to celebrate by watching that big fight. Money that will be made in either date will not change by much. If fact, postponing it will put the fight at jeopardy if say Pac somehow loses or didn't win convincingly in Nov or if something else comes up. With both party being healthy and strong right now is the best time to bring the fight together, esp when the media has been following this saga. Delaying it will just make the fight lose steam. People are beginning to be sick of all these nonsense.
This fight would sell very well during the holiday season cause people during that time frame are in a "spending mood".
I disagree, were still in a **** economy, people aren't going to want to fork over 70+ dollars for a fight during the holidays. Specially when we have a 10% unemployment rate as well. This fight would still do good in November but it would do even better in May. Summer starting, warming weather.
