Yeah. And Ali is such a bad person, right?

I think he called him Muhammad at that point. If you watch the whole video, nobody really listens to Ali, and they all walk over him pretty much. It's sad, because a younger Ali would've outtalked them all.

Is there anything really wrong with calling someone by there original name ? Or refering to them by such ?

People talk as if calling him Cassius Clay past a certain point is the worst possible insult.
But imagine if Floyd Mayweather decided to call himself "Savinder Bindi" or something. Would it be an outrageous insult for us or anyone else to continue to use "Mayweather" as his name ?

Frazier at that stage was beginning to believe he could beat "Clay"....and which proved to be true.

    Yeah I think it's bad.
It's the REASON that he changed his name. I'm not really going to get into the islamic religion but that's why. He converted into the islamic faith and therefore he had to change his name for everyone to acknowledge it.
I think that's how it is. Clearly, it meant something to Ali.

that's the reason ali gave patterson and terrell long beatings - didn't want to end it quick. they both called him Clay - so did Frazier before they fought - go figure.........

He made it clear he considered it a slave name (which it was) and that he felt insulted by those that used it, especially blacks whom I suppose he thought should sympatisise. That should be enough to call him by his preferred name.

If I had gotten ny name from someone who owned my forefather like property I'd not be too keen on it either. And if I changed it amongst a lot of controversy I'd at least hope that other descendants of slaves had some understanding for my choice.
