If Ray had fought Hagler before he retired the 1st time who do you guys pick to win? I say Hagler would have stoped him in late rounds in a 15rd match.

And whats your guy's take on fighters "waiting for the right time to fight an opponent"? its 1 thing to wait if your a young prospect and too green to take a step up but another if your prime and waiting on another for his prime to decline and show signs of wear and tear which i belive Ray did when he rewatched Duran vs. Hagler.

and 1 last thing. The socalled "winning fights at the negotiations table". Its the smart thing to do but IMO lacks heart of a true warrior.

Hagler would have won, plus Ray had every advantage in that fight, Hagler wanted to whip his ass so bad he signed to his demands. Sound familiar? Well at least Ray stepped up to the plate!

I don't see the fight being much diffrent than the real one. It would be a close fight. A younger Leonard might be able to do more in this fight than in the real one. It come down to the judges but I think Leonard wins 9-7. A draw or a 9-7 Hagler win would not suprise me either.

Assuming Leonard doesn't get every condition in his favour like he did when they eventually fought, I'd go with Hagler on points.

I think it all comes down to the conditions such as size of ring, etc.. These two would have fought close at any point, no matter how many times they fought. Both have solid chins, solid minds, know how to fight, etc.. Just how it is.

Leonard spent the better part of at least 6 years talking about fighting Hagler, but didn't act on it until it was beyond obvious that Marvin was shot.Just look at Marvin against Roldan as he was consistently landed on by that big slowpoke, and by the Mugabi fight,as crude Mugabi was landing shot after shot against an accomplished boxer like Marvin, whereas just a couple of years before,Mugabi would have been hitting nothing but air.Leonard knew he had no chance against a prime Marvin and that's why he simply DUCKED him until he was BEYOND CERTAIN that Marvin couldn't get out of the way of a punch anymore without his hand and footspeed.Leonard, who had tons of problems against southpaw welters like Kalule, would have been beaten down by Hagler.
