A while back i made a thread on Joe Louis's How to Box... Opinions were exchanged, copies were purchased via amazon, etc etc. I figured that it might be a solid idea to start a general thread on boxing manuals, ancient and contemporary. Anyone have any good suggestions? I was thinking of purchasing featherweight great Jim Driscoll's Outfighting: Or Long Range Boxing. Anyone take a look at this particular book?

I've also had my eye on Jim Corbett's Scientific Boxing: The Deluxe Edition.

    Opinions on these titles? Recommendations?

I'm also posting a nice PDF of Dempsey's here for the curious:

There are several but almost impossible to fnd outside Cuba. They're in Spanish too, btw. I bought one when I was there 6 years ago. Maybe I will scan the front page (and a bit more) over the weekend and post it.

Can I just say, Swarmer, that this is one of my favorite thread titles ever?

That Navy boxing manual from 1943 is very good. I did not expect much when I purchased it. There were a few things I did not agree with but it was by far the best manual I have ever seen.

As far as the Cuban stuff I would be cautious because they only deal in the amatuer game.
