You are nearly as much of a hater as I am

To be honest I think Hatton is underrated at 147, both by pundits, fans and himself - it was a convenient excuse for the loss IMO.

Granted, he only beat Collazo there, but for the first fight at a new weight (which he did wrong) and first big fight in America is it that bad?

Really, he ought to have rematched Collazo than have a 9 month layoff before fighting Urango..... which is probably his one of his more overrated wins I think.

If he could have established himself at the weight a bit more with say three fights between that and the Mayweather fight it would rightly be one of Mayweather's best wins - but Cotto was too busy clearing out all the fringe contenders.... Williams and Margarito were top of the ''I don't want **** all to do with him'' lists.

    Cintron maybe?

I think Hatton matched up well with the mental midget :yep

See, no one said any of this stuff about Hatton before he got knocked out. Why was he badly prepared? Because of some rumors about camp bust ups and because Hatton claimed to be over-trained? How many times have we heard a fighter make excuses after a loss. Okay there were problems in camp, **** happens. Pac faced disruptions in his training camp fr Cotto due to flooding and politicians distracting him, Roach was getting a little pissed off with Pac, there was a fight between Koncz and Ariza, but he got stuff done. No camp is going to be perfect. Hatton had someone training him who is considered one of the best trainers in the world.

Weight drained? Please. He fought at 140 his whole career. He was innefective at 147 but weight drained at 140? C'mon man. It's funny how before the DLH v Pac fight people didn't even know what weight drained means just like how people had no idea what a "check hook" was. Now suddenly everyone is weight drained. Why was the Pac fight THE turning point when Ricky could no longer make 140 healthily? There's no evidence to support that claim.

As for being mentally shot, again there is no evidence whatsoever to prove that. Hatton is not the first or the last to lose a fight. These days a fighter is considered finished as soon as he gets his first loss. He was coming off a very good win against Paulie ffs. What did Hatton say or do to make you think he was mentally worse off than any other fighter who has suffered a loss? Unless you're Hatton's shrink, you don't know about that kind of ****.

Well, when your trainer is more concerned with ordering a burger at the local drive through than making preparations for the upcoming fight.....

Plus Mayweather was doing orthodox padwork rather than southpaw..... and the selection of Cornelius Lock as a sparring partner wasn't exactly an inspired choice.

With reference to him being weight drained - look at the pictures from that weigh in, compared to the Castillo fight, and tell me that Hatton looks the same. His body looks less defined, his face has all but disappeared, and he can barely stand on the scales long enough without reaching for some water to fire down.

It was the same for the Paulie fight as well, but stylewise and quality wise the opponent wasn't good enough to be able to take advantage of this.

Losses affect fighters in different ways - some get back in the gym immediately and work harder..... others don't. He clearly didn't take the defeat well, blaming all and sundry bar the fact that Mayweather was simply better.

Sacking his long time trusted trainer and replacing him with a completely overrated loony that stylewise and personality wise the blend is as good as chalk and cheese.

I'm not trying to discredit Pacquiao's win at all - but it needs to be put into perspective with what Floyd did - and what Pacquiao did before or since.

It's one of Floyd's better wins because of what I outlined in previous posts.... whereas for Pacquiao it's a good, but not great one, especially with the wins over Marquez and Cotto in big fights either side.

    :think

Boxers have been described as being uncomfortable at the weight for years. Not sure the term weight drained was created by Floyd's camp.

Similarly, just because Manny Steward coins a phrase and calls a punch a 'check hook', doesnt mean people didnt know what it was before. Robinson knocked Fullmer out with one.

I think we've spoken about this before, but I reckon the win over Urango is underrated

You can't make a judgement based on a few clips from 24/7. I knew people would make a big deal when they saw sr trying to order a mountain dew. Same with the padwork. What they show on camera is not always what they're really working on, and like I said no camp is smooth.

I will concede that Hatton looked different around the face for the Castillo fight.

I don't think you can say Hatton was mentally shot just because he didn't get back in the gym straight away. He needed more recovery time but that doesn't mean he's gonna come back in a messed up state. A bad loser maybe but not mentally shot. It seems like these days whenever a fighter loses it's because A he was weight drained, B he was shot, or C because he was a hype job. Sr may be over-rated but people were raving about the combination when he beat Paulie. His old trainer wore a damn fat suit and let Ricky beat his ass up. I'm not dissing the guys training methods but you know what people would say if it was him that trained Ricky for the Pac fight.

You know the point I'm trying to make. When something like that happens, people take that and ake it into a craze. I know people weren't talking about weight anywhere near as much before the DLH fight. Now you hear it all the time.

Regardless of anything else, no version of Ricky Hatton beats Pacman at the moment.

I actually think that a much more composed Hatton may have had a chance against Floyd. He was in the fight until the point deduction at which point he lost his head.

Top and bottom of it though, his two defeats have come to significantly better fighters. I agree with BB that by the sounds of things Hatton's camp for the Pac fight seemed to be in disaray. And there were rumours of such before the fight, not just after. But even if Hatton had had the perfect camp, I still think Pac does him. Maybe not as dramatically and comprehensively, but does him anyway.

In terms of the better win for the two, I'd have to say that Floyd's win over Hatton was a better win for Floyd than Pac's win over Hatton. Following the defeat, Hatton was wobbled against Lazcano, not exactly known for his power. He then put in a performance against Paulie which was probably his best since the Tszyu fight, but Paulie was made for Hatton. Floyd fought against a Hatton that was riding the crest of a wave and at the absolute top of his game (despite the performance against Collazo).

To be fair though, if people continue to make fights at 'catchweights' then weight is going to be discussed as a big factor, otherwise why make a catchweight about 3lbs away from a normal weight limit?

You do make some valid points - it's a difference of opinion that's all.

I just think the way Hatton behaved after the Mayweather fight was indicative of a man struggling to come to terms with what had happened to him.

Like Paddy correctly says, he was riding the crest of a wave and was brought back down to earth with a mighty bump.

Some fighters like Nigel Benn and Lennox Lewis had come back from losses because they were mentally stronger (I'm not talking about heart here) than Ricky was, plus neither were outclassed the way he was.

Other fighters react much worse to losses than Hatton did - Naz buggered off for good and ended up in jail, Vitali Klitschko still thinks he's got a moral victory over Lewis nearly 8 years later etc etc

I dont do trolling, I just give my opinion, do you really think Pacquiao would go up against a massive welterweight with speed like Mosley??

What do you think would happen if Mosley landed that right hand on Pacquiao like he did on Mayweather in round 2??

The difference being this time, a few more would connect as Pacquiao is a lot easier to hit than Mayweather is.

Floyd played that 14 day ruling thing, which is fair play and I think Manny was a complete ***** for not making the fight. Now Floyd is not making the fight and I think he is being a complete *****. HOWEVER neither camp is in fact talking directly to the other, they are going via Ross Greenburg who is going via Arum, Todd, Al Haymon, Ellerbe etc So there are a ridiculous number of middle men.

These guys should be ashamed of themselves for helping to hurt boxing. Pac makes big fights and Floyd talks about making boxing fair but boxing needs them to fight more than anything.

These guys are a disgrace like Haye and the Klits.

The real question is 'what would've happened if Prime Mosley had landed that shot on Floyd?' Or 'What would happen if Prime Floyd fought an offensive beast like Roberto Duran, Ike Williams, Kid Gavilan etc etc'

    Prime Mosley KO 2 Mayweather:deal
