    Randy Couture is a legend in MMA, a bit old but has big heart, and i think he has won olympic medals in wrestling, I just cant see Toney winning this, unless he has been hiding some Jujitsu skill all these years!!

    He better knock Couture out with the first punch he throws, because when Randy gets hold of him he'll just grapple Toney towards the cage, take him down, and mash his face in.

    Well, something like that anyway.

    I'm not an MMA fan. I'm not one of these people who think MMA fighters are any more or less skilled than boxers though. It's like comparing football to rugby for me. Just because they both use a ball and it's on a field, doesnt make it comparable. MMA and boxing is the same. Different skill sets involved. I just dont enjoy it when I've seen it.

    I dont think that this happening though is good for either sport. The militant boxing fans think that MMA is full of talentless thugs. If Toney sparks Couture out then they will think that their position is strengthened. Similarly, militant MMA fans think that boxing is outdated and boxers arent as 'hard' as MMA fighters. If Couture wins, then they will think that their stance is strengthened.

    Fortunately, Joe Public is just not that bothered so it will only be a bad thing for those already interested in either/both.

    I watch both sports, moreso boxing, and believe both sports take alot of talent skill and dedication, Mma you have to be able to defend from different style opponents, as opposed to boxers who constantly face boxers ( i know boxers styles vary but not as severly as mma)

    A good thing about mma is you seem to get the best fighting the best, and the much celebrated 0 is not deemed so important!!

    Also if you exciting and win convincingly you can get a title shot within 4-5 fights in ufc

    Boxing could help itself by taking things from ufc

    From what I hear, the set up and outside the ring things are fantastic. Most notably the best fighting the best. My mates who are into both tell me this. I have tried to watch it, I am just yet to be sold on it. Not having a go like, it's just not my thing.

    Agree though, with things like best fighting the best then that can only be a good thing.

    Rankings based on 'excitement' doesnt appeal to the purist in me though. While I would Hagler v Hearns every day of the week, there's always a place in boxing for a Whitaker. So not sure I'd take that idea on bored.

    I don't think MMA fans for the most part have a hatred for boxing. They may not enjoy it but if you look on MMA forums I personally never see people saying an MMA guy could beat a boxing guy at boxing.

    Secondly, this fight in the States at least, may end up a lot bigger than you are suggesting. UFC are on a huge roll in terms of PPV business (they're going to set a new regard for annual PPV buys) and I think this fight paired with the Lightweight title rematch they have on the card could do big numbers
