Having watched the Thriller in Manilla documentary, I was dumbfounded when one of the dudes was like, "I had it even". What? Really?

Let's hear it Classic, how did you have it?

I think I had Ali up by one or two at the point of the stoppage.

I just watched it again, will try to remember... It was about even after 11 rounds, perhaps with a slight edge towards Ali. Then Ali came on very strong in especially round 13 and14. So I'd probably have Ali ahead by 3-4 points. Could be a bit less also. There were some close rounds.

Anyone consider scoring either round 13 or 14 10-8?

I've watched it several times over the years, and I've got my mind firmly made up. At the end of the fourteenth,I have it 8 - 6 Ali !

Yep ! Some rounds were indeed close. I still can't understand the sadists who say that Frazier should have been allowed to come out for the fifteenth. Good call by Mr.Futch.

That was Eddie's view also though he wasn't scoring I'm guessing. I had it Ali by 3, pretty much on par here. I can't recall the judges cards now, I would be interested if someone could post them.

On a 10 must this is certainly a possibility. The 14:th should be a 10-8, at least.

On a 10 must, Ali would probably be 4-6 points ahead on my card.

What intrigues me is that this figt was so much a carbon copy of the first after 10 rds, but of course looked much different in the last third. I consider doing a thread about how this came about.

Alot of rounds i remember being close, it was a case of Frazier's gruelling pressure for 2/3's of the round winning it, or Ali's cleaner work in counter attacks for 1/3 of the round winning it. Depends what you favour.

Who was the general in the ring? You can be the general moving backwards ofcourse, but not in this fight with shot legs. I felt Frazier was controlling the pace and positioning.

Ali was definatley putting it on him late though and i would not sayb that Frazier should've been let out. Look at the BOTH of them now. They were both past it with Barrera/Morales syndrome

    10-5 about.

Ali took the early rounds, Frazier the middle rounds, than Ali the later rounds. Mostly rounds 12-14 were about all Ali.

It was NOT a carbon copy of the first fight. Ali didnt come back strong in the first like he did in the 3rd fight.

It's a hugely selective and biased documentary. Ali was clearly up, maybe not to the extent of the actual cards. The guy that had Ali 1 point up although a great knowledge boxing expert also had the Jones-Ali fight a draw. He always preferred aggression (I can't remember the guy's name).

I can't remember my exact scorecards... it's been so long and I never saved them.
