    Barkley, then Jirov.

Why are ppl saying Nunn where a green Toney got outboxed for at least 9 rounds? Who's that a great performance?

Nunn was Toneys best win imo, but not his best performance. I still think it was a good performance as he proved he could adapt his gameplan and turn the tables on Nunn.

He didn't get outboxed for at least 9 rounds - he got outboxed for the first half of the fight, but he won rounds 8, 9 and 10 big. Then KOed Nunn in the 11th. Toney still managed to land some subtle but effective body punches on Nunn during the first half of the fight, and that's why Nunn gassed later and was ready for the KO.

nunn-toney is one of the most consistently misunderstood fights on this board. i have to question how many people have actually watched it tbh. it never fails to amaze me the amount of posters who roll out the same old 'toney got outboxed for 11 rounds then pulled a hail mary' line.

nunn controlled the first half of the fight but toney in the second half slowly began to crank the pressure up and at the time of the stoppage was right back in the fight.

toney's signature performance imo. on the other hand, i thought he was fairly average in mccallum II.

  5. Without question it was the Michael Nunn fight.

tbh I only watched it once and all I can remember is Toney getting jabbed in the face for most of the fight and me nearly falling asleep. I didn't say it was a hail mary punch, it's that Nunn faded in the championship rounds

Well, Nunn faded from round 8 onwards because Toney put in some good body punching throughout the whole fight. Nunn gassed, and he never gassed in another fight. And Toney took some big shots in order to get to Nunns body.

Good post. Toney came on in round 7, won rounds 8, 9 and 10 and finished Nunn in the 11th. Nunn simply slowed down in the second half of the fight, and I think this can be attributed to Toneys subtle but effective body punching.

I'd have to watch the fight again, but you're probably right. It's still far from a beautiful performance, same with the McCallum fights. I'd prefer to think of my best performance as the time I took a game opponent to school, but hey

He looked the best against Barkley, and also McCallum I, IMO. I had him beating McCallum in that fight and thought both guys looked terrific. Not much really needs to be said regarding the Barkley fight.

His best win though was Nunn.

agreed, toney's body attack changed the fight against nunn.

Toney' best wins are Nunn, Jirov, McCallum.

Toney' best fight was: McCallum I (even better than Jirov IMO)

Toney's at his best skillwise: against Barkley.

His heavyweight run needs to get more respect too.

A Klitschko fan is not allowed to complain about this.

You must have been watching a different fight anyway

another fight where he looked really good was vs adolpho washinton, certainly not as good as others mentioned but still a good performance, i have nearly all toneys fights on dvd, been collecting them but still a few seem to be impossible to get
