Ability wise they have proved to be very similar, and everyone would like to see a rematch.

but in terms of resume is martinez's defeat of pavlik better than any of williams victories?

good question, i think sergio's victory is stronger than any of paul's big wins -- over margarito, winky, and the unconvincing one over sergio himself

Williams got by Marg, Winky and Martinez - Sergio beat a weight drained Pavllik

    1-0 to Paul Williams

Possibly better than any single Williams victory, but Williams' resume of wins is much, much deeper.

    This.

The Pavlik win edges Williams' best win (Margarito).

It also helps that Martinez got the better of him in their actual fight.

This is the question. is it the best single victory. no need to debate resume as a whole.

I'll add whatever I want to add. I'm Boxed Ears. The power of my Hagvatar alone allows for this.

So you think each of those victories is better than beating the mw champ?

A middleweight champ coming off an injury, severely weight affected and not 100%.

Williams beat his opponents at their best weights, and beat Margarito and Martinez in their primes.

If you have Williams beating Martinez then obviously not

All this is in hindsight. did you expect sergio to beat pavlik pre fight?

i thought he would get bloody murdered

No, only becuase I didn't know that Pavlik would be in such poor condition.

Although I gave Martinez a chance because of his speed. The outcome surprised me, but it was no massive upset

Martinez (if he had any luck) would have wins over Pavlik, Cintron and Williams himself. As it is Martinez has the single best win, a clear decision over Pavlik moving up in weight whereas Williams best win would be either Margarito or Martinez to very close decisions.

That is like saying that beating daniel santos is better than beating margo, or beating mayorga is better than beating forrest.

Williams win against Martinez is better than Martinez win against Williams
