the biggest disappointment for me was hearing the words "****ing boxing, typical ****" from the casual punters at the petersham rsl in sydney. It completely undermined the undercard which had some fairly entertaining fights. I dont care to speculate why briggs went down and i am not looking forward to the cliched headlines in the major newspapers tomorrow, "Another black eye for boxing"

briggs is just a typical cunning crim with connections to the underworld. much like fenech. who was quite likely in on this too.
i'd suspect green to be in on it too but really there's no motivation for him. getting $ 1 mill plus. briggs with no prospects could have easily generated a million with a spread of bets around the place.
How could Paul Briggs do that? It's Paul Briggs ffs. I don't know what's been going on in his life for the last couple of years but that was disgraceful. Briggs was a warrior, scared of nobody and ready to fight to the death just so he could look himself in the eye in the mirror. In his book he talks about his dad and his bro bottling it when things get tough and how he was different than that. The only thing that concerned me was that he was on that religious bull**** but apart from that he seemed like he was mentally un****wittable, as shown in the Adamek fights. Is he hooked on drugs now, what is it? He's a shell of the man he was, he took a dive tonight. That wasn't a man with pride.
I agree mate boxing was most hurt by this. Its tough to defend these sorts of actions to the casual fan.
