Most technically sound boxers to come out of the U.K.?

    I believe the amateur & especially professional coaching in the U.K. is the single biggest handicap preventing british boxers from fulfilling their potential. Which British boxers have managed to overcome this obstacle?

    Lennox Lewis. However, he fought in the amateurs out of Canada and blossomed as a pro when he hired an American trainer.

    You may be right.
    Look at Hatton. He was ruined technically by the time Mayeather tried to train him.
    Joe Calzaghe could never even throw correct punches. They are and always were just, Pitiful and Ugly.
    KHAN, for having a glass chin has poor defense.

    Good thing Lennox Lewis found his way to the US via Canada or he would have had some **** poor training in England.

    tbh i dont think there has been a techically sound boxer out of uk on the world stage

    naz-unorthodox and awkward
    hatton- no for obvious reasons
    calzaghe- no decent boxer but not technical
    amr khan- possibly time will tell, has alot of room to improve

    lennox lewis is canadian

    nigel benn tuff as nails but not technical boxer

    Calzaghe's main problem were fragile hands especially later on in his career. His K.O. record implies this, hence he started punching/slapping more with the inside of the glove to minimize the risk of injury. Look at his other attributes, he was pretty much outstanding in all of them even if not truely tested. I agree, Calzaghe never really fulfilled his potential and I wonder how he would made out if he'd crossed the 'pond' a full decade earlier. But he certainly had the tools to succeed mostly 'cause his father trained him picking up tips from watching old tapes of U.S. greats.

    You ever hear his kd punch over Eubank? Sure didn't look like a slap but yeah I agree his hands are the reason he "slaps".

    Lennox Lewis is never Canadian He is British-Jamaican. Lennox was a sound technical boxer as was Eubank, Watson and David Haye.

    Lennox Claudius Lewis is British-Canadian. He was born in West Ham, London, United Kingdom and moved to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada in 1977 at the age of 12. He fought as a Canadian in the Olympics because that's where he lived and you can't fight for two nations. Just listen to his accent, you can hear some North American and southern English mixed up quite a bit.
