    The P4P theory :

If Jake Shields was a BW and fought Aldo who would win ???

If Aldo was a WW and fought Shields who would win ???

That is the P4P theory and anybody who fancies Shields over Aldo is insane :deal

Shields is an excellent addition to the UFC WW division and I think he will quickly rise towards the top of the pack. He has excellent BJJ/grappling skills, although his striking is atrocious and that may come back to bite him in the arse.

It seems that his signing with the UFC has gone under the radar slightly, which is a bit of a shame but unsurprising considering how boring he has been in his last couple of fights. I wouldn't blame that on him though. Hendo and Mayhem are notoriously hard to finish with submissions. Only three people have ever submitted Hendo; Big Nog, Lil Nog and Anderson, and all those guys are legit BJJ black belts and some of the best JJ guys in the sport. As for Mayhem, neither Jacare nor GSP could finish him either. No shame in not submitting those guys.

I'm glad he is back at what appears to be his best weight as well, where he was submitting guys much more frequently and hopefully he gets back to those ways.

    :good awesome

i wanna see shields vs GSP so bad. GSP has been bullying everyone with his wrestling and now he has a competition who is just as big as him and has great BJJ. Can't wait to see GSP vs Shields.

Submision wrestling is a different sport to MMA big man , completley different , i should maybe of re phrased what i said to the likes of Kos and Fitch are better versed in wrestling for MMA , there is a big difference in the term wrestling for MMA and wrestling !!!!

Even in that video Fitch had top position for 70% of the fight and Shields used his superior JJ to control Fitch in his guard , look for submissions off his back (2 failed guillotine attempts) , and sweep him twice .

What do you think is gonna happen when Sheilds takes your back in a grappling contest ???? :huh  the mans a Caesar Gracie BB :deal

Now re watch your video and include elbows and strikes and tell me Shields control's Fitch that easily  GTFOH man !!!!!!!

Ill go back to my original point , Shields could not take down the likes of Fitch and Kos and others in the UFC WW division at will , while avoiding standing with them , he isnt that good , if Shields cannot control a fight on the ground he's in a lot of trouble with any of the top WW's , added to that and i will grant this , if Shields does take control and get top position or any dominant position then your in trouble , but every fight starts standing and the modern day WW's in the UFC are well rounded enough to avoid being wrestled to death by Shields especially the wrestlers :deal

Shields controled dan freaking henderson. Let me repeat that name DAN FREAKING HENDERSON. Shields can take down fitch or koscheck and beat them on the ground. It might end up a boring fight but it's effective enough to get the W.

When your a good wrestler , it aint that hard to control a completley gassed out fighter even if his name is Dan freaking Henderson :deal , have you seen that fight ?????? , if you have you should know this , Henderson looked shot to peices , he cut from 210 to make 185 , he looked awful and Shields didnt even come close to finishing the fight , and was within a whisker of being finished himself in the 1st round , maybe im coming across too critical of Shields , i just dont see Shields dominating the top WW's in the UFC with wrestling and JJ , i maybe wrong but thats just my opinion , im done with post , its been a pleasure :hi:

Dan had trouble weighing in over 200 lbs last time he fought Wandy; there's no way he cut from 210. Besides Dan admitted himself that the weight cut didn't affect the outcome. I don't buy the assertion that Dan is shot - look what he did to Bisping - Shields grappling is just THAT good. I think your really selling Shields short here. Its one thing to think Kos and Fitch will have no problem with Shields grappling (I disagree), but to talk like its a certainty is completely misguided.

Do not sleep on Kampmann. He could be a bogey man for Shields debut.

True. I did not foresee Kampmann dominating Paulo Thiago the way that he did. Very well rounded fighter with a lot of potential.

He pulls guard and sweeps him, the guy meant better wrestler more in the sense of takedowns, not submission grappling.

Kampmann is a good first fight for Shields. The clash in styles will bring out the best in both. Kampmann has the better standup but Shields has the edge in submissions.

I think people are underestimating sheilds striking.

sheilds beat lawler, who beat babalu,, who beat shogun who beat overeem, who beat hari.

    Sheilds > badri hari
    Sheilds > shogun Rua
    Sheilds > overeem

seems to me he is one of the best:deal
