Oh **** off dude, don't start clumping people who don't like floyd into some racist group.

All of my favorite fighters in history are black.

I paid 80 dollars to watch James Toney fight a complete chump on the undercard of a super six eliminator.

    "ya'll"

    **** off.

What the **** are you talking about? I never said anything about a racist group who dont like floyd dumb ass. I said you don't stop being a fan of someone just because the retired.

I was and still is a huge Barry Sanders fan! He retired to early and suddenly. I was pissed but for my own selfish reasons but i did not stop being a fan of his. I looked at it as it was his choice and his life! I was greatful to witness him playing football for my home team. Then i had a chance to meet him at a Super Bowl in 2006 when Detroit had the Super Bowl and he was a very down to earth nice guy. I stayed a fan of his because of what he did on the field during his years here in Detroit.

Yeah I can. I lace his pockets when I buy his fights, just like every other fan.

If he thinks he controls boxing, he is wrong.

The fans control interest and stars with their dollars.

He isn't in control of jack ****. If I want to call him a ***** for ducking people it is my right as a boxing fan to do it.

It's also his right to fight whenever the **** he wants too. Its his life on the line not yours. You are at home in front of the t.v. watching him risk his life for your enjoyment!

Yeah, and he is handsomely compensated.

If he doesn't want to do it, retire.
If he wants to be there and claim he's the best ever, he is going to face the backlash of it.

I don't need to hear his cheerleaders tell me how great he potentially is. He needs to either put up or shut up.

I was with you until you wrote "and then Martinez". Martinez? Since when does he become the validator of greatness? In the grand scheme of things, Martinez is nobody. He's not a dominant middleweight, he wasn't even a dominant light middleweight. His signature fights were a loss to Margarito, a draw to Cintron, a loss to Paul Williams and a victory against Pavlik. At 35, he doesn't have enough time on his clock to forge the sort of legacy that will make people look at him in 20 years and say, "I can't believe Floyd beat that guy".

He's a modern day Donnie LeLonde.

Did you just say something about beating women? I think the dude in your avatar elevated that to an artform.

For the record, I agree with the broad view that there will always be people who discredit anybody on top. But with the passage of time, only certain voices carry weight, and only those voices will define a boxer's legacy. In 50 years, nobody is going to care what LukeO or Lubson or Demigawd had to say about Floyd or Pacquiao. They're going to care about the titles he won, who he beat, and what the thought leaders in boxing have to say. Luckily the thought leaders are far more reasonable than any of us.

My point is, don't get your panties in a bunch over the opinions of a bunch of people on a message board. Ali is the most beloved boxer of all time, and you never would have guessed that would happen in 1967.

As for all the racism and persecuted black man stuff - noise. Four out of the five most beloved and famous athletes of all time are black.
