Well i consider myself a gym rat (weights) and i can see if he was only doing it for 5 to 10 reps but to do it 20x for 3 sets is pretty good. According to the Bench Press calculator it equates to a 444lb 1 rep Bench which is very good even for a 250lb much less a Boxer who doesnt strive for big weights.
I guarantee Tyson and Pacquiao (and a slew of other people) could do 1000 sit-ups in one sitting. They're among the easiest exercises to just pump out long sets.
do you even workout? i know bodybuilders who cant do 275x20 for 3 sets i would bet $500 of my own money that he could not even do 275x20 for 1 set but you incredible athletes on here talk about it like its nothing.
Lot of guys who are skinny wimps here. I could tell people would cry when those numbers started going up.
I am no expert, but for all those comparing Wladimir to bodybuilders saying "if Arnold can only do x amount y number of reps for z sets, there is no way Wladimir can do greater than that or even similar to" isn't there a difference in lifting for strength vs for bodybuilding (visual musculature). I was under the impression that lifting near your maximum increases your strength vs doing lots of reps improves tone. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can correct me. I just don't think you can compare a bodybuilder to an athlete directly. If we could find out Shannon Brigg's numbers that may shed some light on the subject as he clearly lifts more than he probably should as a boxer.
I was going to say that i'v seen Chef before in a Klychko doc and he looked solid as hell. Nice job with the pic.
Yey but you failed to mention that he was also doing pullups right after that with no rest, then going back (without rest). Prime Arnold could hit alot more reps with 275 than that. I forgot his exact 1 rep Max,but i do know it was over 500.
275 is a big weight for anyone but its not just the weight its the number of reps. 15 reps at nearly 300lbs will get respect in any gym in the world. I know Arnolds training partner Frano Columbu could bench 600lbs for a single but he was stronger that Arnold. Arnold never squatted much over 400lbs and used 300lbs on the bench for reps. It's bodybuilding not power lifting. Bottom line is bench pressing is not a big exercise in boxing. You rarely see boxers with huge chests and Wlad definitely doesn't have one. Stallone in Rocky has a big chest but he looks more like a bodybuilder than a fighter. UFC fighters have big chests......
I'm not at all sold on Chef actually being who he says he is. Anyone can post a picture of Wlad's chef and claim to be him. As far as the workout routine he listed... it could be legit. Comparing it to Arnold was off because that was a small portion of Arnold's routine and he was supersetting it with chin-ups, without rest periods. If you know about lifting, you should know that makes it MUCH harder. Nobody said it's easy to lift 275x20x3, but I could definitely see 6'6'' 250 Wlad doing that much. Unless you're a world class boxing trainer I don't see how you could question its effectiveness.
you're a moron mate the guy weighs 250lbs. bench pressing 25lbs more than your bodyweight is not a feat of weighlifting. it's a very respectable lift for an serious amateur weightlifter, but hardly breathtaking for a professional athlete.
I've trained enough years in a boxing gym and fought enough to know boxers focus on shoulders/neck/traps/back. I've been lifting weights for 25 years and competed as a bodybuilder. Look at Chris Eubank for an example. He was a muscular guy but had no chest muscle. Wlad doesn't have a big chest as he doesn't need it.
