ufc vs boxing settle the score once and for all. now my question is how can you settle things that way? as far as im concern merciless ray mercer ko tim silvia in 9sec. toney might do the same maybe not and couture wins but it doesn't proof anything how bout each guy try each others sport against each. see how it ends up

Toney doesn't stand a chance. I've yet to see a boxer having an answer for the take down and Couture is pretty good at it. Ground and pound baby.

No elite boxer has made a genuine attempt at cross over and I would say vica versa.

Philips, Butterbean, Mercer etc are fat, old, shot, past it boxers looking for pay days. Toney is much the same but has a legendary record to fall back on so they are trying to sell a 41 year old off as an elite boxer crossing over. He is a mouth crossing over. Period.

Arguing Philips, Mercer etc as genuine cross overs is like trying to say Silva and Belfort took genuine stabs at boxing.

Botha did okay in K1, he gave it a go but again he was past it and his waist line showed his commitment.

In each others sport a boxer and a MMA would win HOWEVER there would be the odd upset. IF boxers and MMA decided to dedicate themselves to a different combat sport the success rate would DRAMATICALLY increase. These guys are physically talented and love combat. MMA love boxing and numerous boxers have multi disciplined background prior to the MMA boom.

The comparison is stupid. It made sense in UFC 1 because MMA were generally 1 style. MMA has now evolved past a style vs style match up. It is now complete fighters facing off. Boxers will still beat the odd MMA, ala Mercer, but this does not label one fighting form as better.

This argument has been bred out of moronic MMA fans trying to argue boxing as a less manly sport because its not a real fight and moronic boxing fans trying to argue that grappling is homosexual. It's stupid. If you don't like both sports then don't classify yourself as a genuine combat fan. Personally, I love all forms of combat.

If he executes the right strategy and taps that chin with a fast and hard shot then I would not be suprised.

Toney must be having a field day in 4-6oz gloves.

It could happen, but i wouldn't bet money on it. Personally I think a more interesting match up would be Toney against Liddell. In that particular fight, I'd probably give Toney the advantage because Liddell, likes to stand up.

really lookin forward to this fight no matter what the outcome! but alot of people are writing toney off saying toney only has a punchers chance well couture only has a grapplers chance! and couture is a greco style and has never bin great at shooting for legs so that makes it a little bit better for toney!

    It's all to sell tickets.

What the headline should be is

TONEY VS COUTURE "There's 90 years of living between them, someone's hip is bound to break"

What if Toney does win and gets interviewed after by Rogan, an out of breath Toney will need subtitles...

Couture isn't the one flapping his gums about how he could beat Toney in a boxing match.
