Don't know if there are any Contender Asia fans but Yodsanklai really made me a fan with his chill personality and killer skills. Below is his fight against WMC champion Sean Wright. Its amazing how lackadaisical Yodsanklai looks in there but finishes the job with class: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5PFbKGQUuU[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJdf62SHlk4&feature=related[/ame]
Doubt it. K-1 has it in for Thai fighters. No elbows or thai clinch and they generally only allow one Thai fighter to compete in their events. It's Buakaw or someone else, no and. This year it's Buakaw or Pajonsuk.
Yeah, it sucks that Yodsanklai isn't given more chances in K-1 Max. However, I honestly cannot see him beating Petrosyan under K-1 rules. Under Muay Thai rules, it would be a close win for Yod.
Petrosyan is damn good, but yod with his power has a chance against anyone. I want to see a rematch between buakaw and Petrosyan, I think buakaw won the first fight, but it was very close and a draw was probably the best decision.
I second a MT forum! Unfortunately, I think Buakaw's motivation is flagging. Thais tend to lose steam after 25-28 years old because of all their ring wars. If Buakaw was in his prime, Petrosyan wouldn't be able to beat him.
How about this fight from the contender finale [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISzFXpYK1Bg[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugux2l7XfGM[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eWMskxR1wg[/ame] Yodsaenklai fairtex beat John wayne "the gunslinger" Parr a very good muay thai fighter, with wins over: Mike Zambidis, Kozo Takeda, Cosmo Alexandre. Fought and lost to Yodsanklai 2x, buakaw por pramuk and Albert Kraus.
more yodsanklai. check out the left roundhouse to the body in this one. brutal [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvsnB1RJoCs[/ame]
I like JWP, but I cant favor him in this fight. Yod is among the best Muay Thai fighters at the moment. Jwp is also a top nak muay, and both these guys put on exiting matches win or lose. Here is the poster for the fight. This content is protected This content is protected cant not be exited for this one. best of luck to both fighters.:good
Thing is, I think Yod is losing motivation. He looked very ordinary in his last fight. I think only a shot at K-1 would motivate him to the point where he would go back to his old form.
After 200+ fights it is a possibility. if yod was in the k1 max tourney, guaranteed he would give all the top competitors some great fights and I would not be surprised in the least if he won it. of course yodsanklai has other options, for one he could go triple platinum with his singing career:happy [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVXfbeBdz-8[/ame] Also Pajonsuk's style from what I have seen (with the throws) is not as well suited for k1 as buakaw or Yod. both are better more adaptable under the current rules of K1 and generally make for exciting matches. Buakaw or yodsanklai K1. remember yodsanklai is only 25. Whatever he does, im sure the fans will be entertained for the next few years.
Found this posted on another forum. it is a good interveiw with the star of the topic Yodsanklai Fairtex. Thought it would be a good addition to this thread discussion. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1zMTBBwiGA&feature=player_embedded[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLZp8akpES8&feature=player_embedded[/ame] A lot of the things yod talks about here I was not aware of, about his name and how he was taught the power of his left hand.
