What planet are you living on? calazaghe has two names on his list of which i give him credit and respect for, but its only two, and beating jones in 2008 shouldnt really count the guy is done. mosley, marquez, hatton, de la hoya, judah, gatti, castillo twice, chavez, corrales is far greater than hopkins and a done jones jr. I got no problem with being a fan of a fighter, but seriously man i dont understand how you can compare the two, look at the list of people who Floyd beat its a who's who list of world class boxers. Calazaghes resume doesnt even compare to Floyd's.
the fact that anyone gets credit for beating 40+ year old versions of Jones and Hopkins says how great they are, and decent the other fighter was. a real fighter wouldn't get much credit at all for beating washed up fighters, (and going life and death with one of them). but since everyone knows calzaghe isn't that good, then he deserves credit for beating someone close to his level, even if they had to be far from their own pinnacles.
Problem for me always comes down to Hypocrisy in how we view a fighters wins and losses. Alot here defend Pavlik by saying how he beat Taylor, yet i dont see any of this defence used when people say Froch beat Taylor. I see alot keep going over and over about the ages of Calzaghes wins yet i never see the same people criticise Dawson for doing the same thing. Be honest if Ward was to fight Hopkins tommorow and win do you think everyone will go ah well means nothing Hopkins is an old man?

You can yet again give us your tired, ill-informed bollocks about Hopkins's career if you want, but it will always be clear as day to any knowledgable neutral that Hopkins fought and beat better fighters than Calzaghe, had a better career than Calzaghe, and was a superior fighter in his prime to Calzaghe. History will always place Hopkins above Calzaghe in pretty much every way... and rightfully so. :good
