I have watched and followed Pirog for a few years and even brought him up in conversation in other forums. So i am happy that he gets to show the world his talent because he is quite a unique fighter in terms of his style.
Once thsi fight was announced i was surprised and happy as I thought initilly that Pirog is definitely going to upset Jacobs who alot of people are excited about. bu now after letting things settle, this fight is definitely tough for both fighters and should be competitive barring an early KO for either. boiks down to who has more in the tank probably from the middle rounds onwards and I do feel that Pirog will wear Jacobs down. Jacobs needs to be clever and not try and blow Pirog out if it does not seem like it is going to happen early and use his speed to control the fight. excelent match up. I am for Pirog but just happy to see a good fight as I WILL RIGHT NEITHER OF THEM OFF WHEN ONE LOSES. as they have balls for taking this real fight so early and taking risk to get ahead.

Yeah, this should be a real showcase for both regardless of the outcome. I don't see demand to see either of them doing anything but increase.

    32-22 for Jacobs so far.

Interesting that the more respectable posters (IMO) - that is, the ones more known for being up on the sport of boxing as a whole (including the international scene, and not just what happens on American TV) all lean towards Pirog.

I copped out and voted draw, personally  - to me it's a true 50-50.

I can't vote. I've seen Jacobs his whole career, and I watched all the Pirog stuff on You Tube, but I have no clue who will win:think

Also check out some fights of Pirog*s opponents they are teak tough figthers like Tateyvosian (who he knocked out in only his th or 3rd fight), Jantuah(who AA struggled with), Ajetovich, Toygonbaev and Chirkov (who Gevor had his hands full with). These are indeed the better fighters compared to Jacobs* opponents. Altogether Jacobs can primarily rely on his speed and lateral movement and he needs to finish Pirog early. But Ican*t see that happening. Pirog can take apunch and won*t falter. His workrate will make the difference.

Pirog looks like a much more complete fighter IMO. His defense looks to be better than Jacob's. That's no diss towards Jacob's either. So pumped to watch this fight.

Yeah, the fight is damned respectable as a match-up but it's such bull**** that the WBO title is on the line. It really isn't right that Martinez doesn't have it, imo.

Great point. Alot of people won't recognize many of those names but his compitition is quite respectable for 16 pro fights.

Didn't he choose to stick with the MW belt instead? Or do you mean it's bull**** he can't juggle both?

Initially Martinez had 15 days to commit to a title defense at 160. He did not have to set-up a fight. All he had to do is commit to staying at 160.

Pavlik had 30 days to exercise his rematch clause, so both the WBC and the WBO left Martinez alone.

After Pavlik passed on the rematch the WBO gave Martinez at least another month before they took action.

The Martinez situation is similar to Jermain Taylor with the WBA and IBF titles. Technically he was stripped, but in reality it's more like he vacated.

It really doesn't matter that match. Everybody knows the lineage: Hopkins, Taylor, Pavlik, Martinez. Anyone who is not in that lineage is just a titlist. Martinez is the champion.

I do think Pirog is right that he's more likely to develop a fan base in the US than in Europe. I wouldn't call his style fan friendly, but it's closer to what people are used to seeing here than in Europe.

Serious question: Can Pirog jab like a mother****er? I mean can he throw Kessler-Pavlik type jack hammer jabs? If he can, he can beat Jacobs easier than some of us think he can. Danny has a real bad habit of stopping jabs with his face!
