In a translation written by youtuber BuilDozerrrr in reference to Fedor Emelianenkos interview after the stunning loss to top 10 ranked fighter and former ADCC champion Fabricio Werdum, Fedor speaks about how he feels towards the fight..read more
Overall he is quite right. Combat Sambo trains in all aspects of MMA. If I could only find a facility local to train I'd be there.
If Fedor does feel any annoyance at his first real professional loss, it will be because Sambo lost to Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He's always been proud to represent Russia and it's fighting style in MMA, never caring too much about his mixed martial arts record in itself.
The only reason he lost is cuz that gay dude fell right to the ground and tried to play footsie. In the real world, Fedor woulda stomped his ass out. That gay **** don't work in real life. You go down like that, you're done.
Interesting. (And I'm sincere in that is interesting...I haven't thought out what I'm going to say yet, but will write it up to see if you're actually correct, because you may well be. But 2004 is a long time. Maybe if you said 2006, 07 or 08 then maybe. Maybe do you mean black belt? It's hard to say if one has a belt because anyone can get a white belt and therefore have a BJJ belt, so I'll assume you mean a black belt or high level belt.) June 26, 2010 - Fabricio Werdum - BJJ Black Belt - ADCC World Champion Nov 2009 - Brett Rogers - Nope. Brawler Jan 2009 - Andrei Arlovski - Nope. Sambo practicioner July 2008 - Tim Silvia - Striker but probably has a decent belt in BJJ, but maybe doesn't work with a gi, so maybe just has no-gi grappling experience. Debatable without certainknowledge. Dec 2007 - Hong Man Choi - Definately not. April 2007 - Matt Lindland - Greco Roman Wrestler - Silver Medalist Olympic Games. Has BJJ knowledge but unsure as to if he is belted or not. Has excellent grappling credentials. Dec 2006 - Mark Hunt - Kickboxer, almost submitted Fedor...twice! I'd be shocked if he has a purple belt. October 2006 - Marc Coleman, Wrestler, no significant BJJ accolaides Zulo, CC and Zosafhdiosahfdliahfl.... Damn...you're right. Last time he fought a significant BJJ threat was December 31, 2004 against Nogueira. Nice call, sir.
Mir woudnt even make it to the ground before he gets KOed. Many of the guys on that list are great grapplers, its just that their main sport and the sport that they started with was different. Its like saying, Fedor cant kick and punch because his a Sambo guy (from Judo like BJJ) or that Overeem cant grapple because hes got a MT background.
Sambo is far more complete and fighters do get caught out. Sometimes the better fighter gets KO by someone unexpected or subbed quickly by someone unexpected. Also Fedor could have gotten out of that situation as per the Gracie's breakdown of the fight, Fedor made the mistake and Werdum too advantage of it. [yt]b1N23qOTqZo[/yt]
