He has an uphill climb at 160 because there are other young guys that are better.

That KD wasn't because he was hurt but rather a combination of being slightly off balanced and being hit with a good shot. Smith is a good fighter and he showed up against Guerrero, something most people didn't expect. But i agree, his size is an issue.

He a good exciting fighter but against the top level I dont see him doing to well unless he's matched up against someone that will fight it out with him. I dont see him beating any of the champ at 154 or 160 at the moment. I think even guys like Strum and Spinks will box his ears off if he doesnt get them outta there early.

No I think Korobov is a great style for him and would also make for a great fight, Pirog would would whip his ass though.

LOL, Sturm or Spinks aren't going to "box his ears off".

Guerrero can box or brawl. I think he will definitely improve on his boxing skills. But he's got the hand speed and physical skills to fight that type of style and not everyone can because you need some physical gifts to fight that way. It's going to be really hard for ANYONE to box his ears off because he's a pretty well rounded fighter. He's not one dimensional.

The fight with Smith couldve went either way. If Smith can do it what will world class guys do to him?

Ossie Duran, Micheal Walker, and Ishe Smith are all tough fighters who can really test most young prospects. Duran had a competetive fight with David Lopez. I thought Walker could have beat Jacobs if he knew how to throw a freaking jab! And we all know Ishe is a spoiler. So far Guerrero is fighting the right kind of opponents, and doing well against them.

Mostly how hittable he is. He relies more on athletic instincts than boxing ability. He still makes a lot of basic mistakes, like not covering up when he throws and leaning his head into punches. To top it off, his chin is pretty average. Unless he improves at a faster rate than he has been, I think the other top guys will be able to outbox him, and if he runs into a really big puncher, he could get knocked out.

All that said, I do think he has what it takes to be a name fighter and he could capture a belt or two at some point. I just don't think he'll ever be the man in the division, or a P4P level fighter.

My only reservations are that Pirog is already 30 and Korobov has looked like crap his last few fights. His last fight, he seriously looked like a clubfighter, just no energy at all, really slow, and getting hit way too easily by an actual clubfighter.

Just to point out, he IS still learning. Guerrero's far from being a finished product and he's still very young. He's just not really a natural boxer, so time will tell if he can pick up the nuances he needs to pick up to become a good boxer. He's really more of an athlete than a boxer though.

Pirog has at least another 4 prime years left and he doesn't have the type of face first style that would cause him to burn out quick.

I have all of Korobov's fight except for the 2 that weren't televised and i really don't understand the criticism. He does need to start fighting more frequently (he is coming off some sort of nasel problem, hence the layoff) and begin to step up the compitition but i think he's been coming along fine.

I am still uncertain about him using Garcia as a trainer. I am always very skeptical and pessimistic about Eastern Europeans using western trainers. That's my biggest worry tbh.

The last one wasn't televised. I was there live, and he looked like crap. When he won, the decision was booed. It's possible he was just lethargic because of the nasal problem.

I agree that Pirog doesn't have a style where he should fade quickly. He's probably the best defensive fighter among the middleweights.

Well, Guerrero isn't a finished product, he's only 23 with 18 pro fights. He's still learning. This was his first real test. Smith took him into deep waters but the kid showed a ton of heart, stamina, determination and skills.

If he was a savvy veteran, he would not have been sucked into a brutal brawl. He had the advantage in hand speed, jab, workrate, stamina, etc. He could've just outworked Smith from the outside but he got dragged into a brawl because he has a lot of that warrior mentality. Now he's learned this fact and maybe next time, he'll fight smarter and look a lot better because of it.
