With all this Povetkin out Peter in Hype I decided to watch their bout over again. Due to going to the wrong part on youtube I wound up at the end of round 2 but watched from there I saw many things i didnt remember when watching live. The fight was exciting one of the better modern fights at the weight. No I'm not calling it Brewster Lyahovich but its up there with other good recent fights like Vitali Lennox, Vitali Sanders, Brewster Krasniq,i Areolla Walker, Vitali Areolla, and others that dont come right to me Wlad cruised through round 1 and 2. In round 3 Peter got in some shots. Wlad took the 4th but the 5th had 2 KD's. Neither were really good. One was a rabbit punch he looked like he fell to draw a foul but was ruled down, the next was a clinch it looked like Wl,ad tried to like take a knee in the clinch to get a break but got hit on the way down. Wlad's legs look very rubbery in the legs but didnt look overyl fatigued or hurt. He was back in command and landing. Peter would land one big punch at a time but not often enough and would hit air with punches that would have KO'd him. Wlad in the 10th was caught with an overhand right not the best of punches but he was down. Then early in the 12 before the Wlad hook shocked Peter Wlad wwas on rubber legs again. The fight was good and the last exciting one he has been in. I have several things to take away from this. Wlad fought the same style he fights now in that fight lotta jabs few hooks and strategic with the right. The same thing he does now and is called boring. However Peter his opponent made it exciting with his attack even if he missed he got Wlad out of his comfort zone. Wlad hasnt been out of his comfort zone in a long time. Yes Iggy put him in a little funk but he never had him in trouble or on the run. I dont know if Wlad was just real nervous that night and is over the mental issue or if he just hasnt been presented the difficulties in the ring that bring him to those problems. Peter is a question mark to me. He was green then but now he is a seasoned veteran and back in shape. Peter missed alot but not by much. I feel he can jab his way in now and be able to close the distance. This said I feel Wlad has also came a long way and is now more comfortable more dominant and less scared. I dont think Wlad has a horrible chin like accussed he took some Peter bombs and stayed up. Sanders never actually had him cold Wlad got up everytime. Brewster didnt even KO him he fell from exaustion. Purrity the same. I feel it Wlads legs not his chin. He gets under attack atleast in the Peter fight and his legs just go loose like a fish out of water. Peter would land one big blow and hurt or dorp him but couldnt finish. Sanders with his quick hands shocked and dropped Wlad and never let him off the hook. That said he has improved much since 03 or 02 whenever that was. Peter had him but was a poor finisher. I think Peter with his improvements and expericene can be a tough test but factoring where wlad has gotten to does this negate Peter.
if peter comes in looking in good condition he will have a punchers chance as he may be able to land a hail mary or two. However wlad's recent fights have been so one sided i feel he will jab jab jab ..... jab jab jab jab jab ........ jab right hand jab his way to victory
Very good post! My feelings on the fight is that Peter can not and will not when on points against the much better boxer and will have to land the big punch to ko or tko wlad. Peter has a very solid chin but he can not sit there and let wlad drop bombs on him like there last fight. I hope Peters new trainer has him working on head movement and combo punching
If Peter wants to have a better chance than an icecube in hell then he has to forget about trying to box and simply go in and brawl with Wlad. That's his only chance, just like in the first bout. Maybe Wlad is better than 5 years ago but then again maybe Peter get's lucky. I give him a 10% chance of winning if he gives his best trying to make this a dirty street brawl, at least for a couple of rounds as long as his stamina lasts. Maybe he can force a cut or another type of injury on Wlad. If however Peter tries to smartly box I'd lower his chances of winning to about 0.05%. He will get pummeled into a bloody mess that resembles a burst black pudding sausage.
Peter does has never been cut in a fight ever, He has had his nose bleed and cut inside his mouth but never cut
Have you ever had out of body experience? I just did. You said exactly what I was thinking in exact same words. scary ****..... Maybe I have to lower my mescaline dosage next time.
This is the fight i have been waiting for, for nearly 5 years now. Samuel Peter was the last fighter to give Wlad a tough fight, and really take the fight to him. Peter, as said above. Is a very dangerous puncher, something Wlad has not done well against in the past. Peter, for all his faults. Is a very game oppenent. He's aggressive, heavy handed, and can take a punch. Which seems to be more than what I can say for Wlads last several oppenents. The fight itself will be interesting, though as the fight gets deeper in the rounds. I feel Wlad will be at more of an advantage, by then he would have already imposed his style of fighting on Samuel. The jab and grab style that has made Wlad victorious over all of his oppenents over the last 6 plus years. Peters best chance is to catch him cold, early in the fight. When Wlad has yet to get comfortable.
