What did you think of my rankings? Ishy dosent rest or recuperate. Hes a goddamn machine, he must be on 'stand-by' or 'hibernate'. I'm scared to start a 'Where's Ishy?' thread as you know of the success of my 'Where's ...?' threads.
Morales Barrera JM Marquez Rafa Marquez Castillo Vasquez Montiel Larios Margarito Mijares That's my opinion, based on a variety of things not just achievement. I think the 3 different levels are quite clear. There could also be a case made for a fourth level with only Juan Manuel Marquez in it.
Strange, I actually rate Rafa above Juan. I thought Too Sharp (despite the early Wenton loss - what the **** happend there?) and Austin were seen as almost unbeatable when Rafa beat them, and were near P-4-P top 10 entry. His BW resume, with them two included, is dynamite.
They're not equal. Maybe in paper achivement but you have to factor in other things like Marquez's fights with what will probably be a prime or close to prime Pacquiao where he didn't get the nod but anybody with knowledge will look back at them and recognise what happened there. Rafa has never really done anything on that level. I thought I was being quite generous just giving Rafa 4th ahead of Castillo and Vasquez, mainly because of his bantamweight achievements and technical skill.
I was surprised you had Montiel above Vasquez tbh. I thought his wins over Larios x2, Marquez x2 and Johnny Gonzalez would have put him clear of Montiel.
See I dont think Vasquez is all that good. He has wins of a solid champion IMO, but Montiel really has some good wins and he has the Hasegawa win which is bigger than anything Vasquez had. Although its late at night I'm knackered and am probably talking out my arse.
Nah seriously though, a point in Montiel's favour is that he moved up the divisions and excelled outside of a single weightclass, whereas a lot of Vazquez' wins are actually against guys moving up (Marquez, Gonzalez, Hernandez) and that Izzy didn't excel outside of the one division.
I've got... 1.Marco Antonio Barrera 2.Erik Morales 3.Juan Manuel Marquez 4.Jose Luis Castillo 5.Israel Vasquez 6.Rafael Marquez 7.Antonio Margorito 8.Oscar Larios 9.Fernando Montiel 10.Cristian Mijares Nice thread:good
And I'm a massive Rafa fan but in truth I think the people in front of him have beaten a better standard of opposition. Technically he may be one of, if not THE best, but I decided to go on quality of opponents faced and beaten
Mijares pisses all over Arce. This whole '3 division champ' thing is not as Significant with the small shifts in weight and many belts up for grabs. Barrera is top out of those. Can I be arsed to go through all of 'em? Not just this minute, but good thread nonetheless, better than the usual 'top ten mexicans' threads for sure:good
