When they compete for the vacant WBC 154 belt Rhodes's high ranking will count for nothing. Saul Alvarez holds the Silver belt which will keep him in the hunt once the belt is vacated again, but Rhodes does not have time to weight behind the Super Stars jumping the rankings, picking up belts, holding them for a while then dropping them when it suits. If Pac wins Floyd holds the WBC Emeritus 154 belt to guarantee him a straight shot.

Fret not my friend - Pac will almost certainly vacate straight away. He'll probably retire after this fight unless Mayweather finds his balls.

Good post this. Disappointing for Rhodes to not have his shot right away but as you say the various permetations mean he may have to wait a long period of time. :verysad. I hope he doesn't have to fight Alvarez as an eliminator cos that could wipe out his chances. I'd definitely fancu Canelo in that

Again, fret not. Now that Cotto has been left without an opponent I think Alvarez might be matched with him.:good

rhodeas has alrready won a WBC elim. no point going to another sanctioning body. if he beats konekny, this might raise him with the other sanctioning bodies.

maybe rhodes should try and get middleweight champ, martinez. most of these guys are interchangeable at 154 and 160. obviously rhodes wants to campaing at 154 because he's more effective there and unbeaten at the weight. but martinez is a natural 154, it's not like he'll have the size advantage. pavlik had once shortlisted rhodes as an opponent. martinez can't get an opponent for his first title defense - how about it?

Rhodes has always came off short at 160. He should remain at 154 and not be forced out of his natural division by the alphabet boys

Its been proven Rhodes can't cut it at 160 (and martinez is a class above). I really hope he gets his shot at 154 before its too late.

HBO have apparently just turned down Martinez/Angulo, very unlikely they'll accept Martinez/Rhodes unfortunately.

Margo vs Pac for a WBC 154 belt is questionable to say the least.

Surely there has to have been a bit of money flying about for Pacquiao to get a shot at 154, what has he done to deserve a title shot at 154??

I know he's done very well at lower weights but not at light-middle.

he won the WBC eliminator last year and his title shot it.......not happehing.

he is number 4 with the ibf and konekny is ranked in the top 10 with them. and spinks is a winnable fight.

Chaps, dismiss any notions of titles meaning ANYTHING!!! They don't anymore.

Cotto would brutalise the overrated Alvarez at this stage. Will Arum take Cotto out of house anyway? Is Vanes Top Rank? Maybe Cotto will fight him.
