Are the fights with Barry and Setanta going to be on a Saturday night or Fridays. I think it could be a hit with Friday nights. I think it is best to have it then than on a Saturday night with Skys fights on a Saturday and Peters fights the same night as well a clash on the off chance may loose viewers to the other stations.
of course we can get setanta ireland.... why would we not... and why da feck would setanta b putting boxing on up here if they didnt want 2 target the market up hereatsch:good
**** me lads what happend Jeffries. Absolute gash. Great news about McGuigan and all that craic. I've been too busy crying for the last few days to get in on the conversation

The Rovers are in for a huge pay day getting Juve. Imagine the Juve team bus heading up to Tallaght IF the bus doesnt get robbed I will be shocked.
They were all shite moorser. Absolute ****ing garbage and every single one of them should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I can take losing (you have to be able to be a Bohs fan) but gettng pumped that badly by a Welsh team still in pre-season when we needed to win for so many reasons was unacceptable. A few of them will realise how important it was when they are on the dole queue in the next couple of weeks. ****ing sickening. When you see Shelley tell him he was brutal when he played for the Orchard and he's still brutal now. The poor mans Anto Cullen At least Carlos march to world title glory will now be televised!
thats exactly what i thought Gareth was asking me earlier and I told him as much I'll get him to drop u a line
Thanks, I was touring [caravan] firstly in Westport, then in Fermanagh. Two things of note, boxing related of course, I pulled into a car park [ Westport is one busy wee town, and finding a free parking space was near impossible], and there was St Annes boxing club at the back off a building in this car park. Unfortunately it was closed, but she who must be obeyed was getting impatient with me anyway for only going up to the boxing club, so I dare say if it had been open, I wouldn't had a chance to look in anyhow. Secondly there was a bar/restaurant being painted, and a white van belonging to the painter had a Dolphil poster in its back window, I would pass this van everyday, and often wondered who the painter was. Aint got enough posts to PM you Fra. Is Setanta only availible through SKY then and not Virgin ? I had Setanta on Virgin until they went pop with the UK section. Got ESPN then once Setanta went but can't seem to see Setanta as an option on the Virgin website. Cheers for the help.
Its alright mate I'll paste in in here for the lads to have a read Story by Paddy Cronan / Photo by Brendan Galbraith | This content is protected January 14, 2005 is a day that will go down in Irish history. It was the day boxing promoter Brian Peters proclaimed, “Today I am announcing a new era for Irish boxing, bringing back big time boxing to Ireland. I want to give the sport the profile it has lacked for far too long, and in Bernard we have a fighter that can do that.” Not many would have predicted that Peters would in fact deliver on his promise. With the backing of the Irish national broadcaster RTE, Peters was able to bring European title fights to the capitol, selling out Dublin’s Point Theatre where figures such as Steve Collins, Wayne McCullough, Lennox Lewis and Prince Naseem Hamed fought before. The ultimate goal was to win a World Title and in 2009, and Bernard Dunne realised his dream winning the WBA Super Bantamweight Championship of the World by a spectacular KO in round 11. in what was on the short list for. Many boxing experts had the battle on a short list for fight of the year. Peters was as true has his word and had delivered on his promise to bring big time boxing back to Ireland. Fast forward to 2010, Bernard Dunne has announced his retirement from the sport after losing his championship to a one of the most avoided fighters in the division - Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym. Ireland is crying out for a young fresh faced star who can capture the imagination of the Irish public the way Bernard Dunne did. Yesterday Hall-of-Fame Fighter Barry McGuigan announced he struck a six fight deal with Setanta Sports Ireland to screen his shows over the coming year. Much like Peters five years earlier, McGuigan has a former Irish Amateur Senior Featherweight Champion beside him in Belfast’s Carl Frampton. It is clear McGuigan believes he has found Dunne’s natural successor, “The first bill will be headlined by Belfast’s Carl Frampton who I believe has the tools to go all the way. He can box, he can fight and he is getting better and better with every outing. We would like to push him into championship class as soon as possible. I have seen him sparring with some of the best boxers in Europe and he looks very comfortable in that class.” Despite never having fought on the televised portion of an undercard, Frampton has built up a monstrous buzz both in the U.K. and Ireland. In January Carl was named Prospect of the Year at the Irish National Boxing Awards. More recently British magazine Boxing Monthly conducted a poll of several top industry men to find out the best fighter with under 15 fights operating in the U.K., Frampton topped this poll along with Liverpool light heavyweight Tony Bellew and Hayemaker’s George Groves, as well as heavyweight monster Richard Towers. Quite an achievement considering several of Britain’s top former amateur stars such Olympic Gold Medallist James DeGale, former Amateur World Champion Frankie Gavin and Olympic Bronze Medallist Tony Jefferies hadn’t managed to garner as many votes. When questioned on for this poll former Irish Title Challenger Jeff Thomas responded with a short and simple answer, “Carl Frampton.” Thomas then elaborated, ”He is class and has a style made for television. Providing he continues to improve, he has a shot at a big career.” Boxing Monthly also caught up with Britain’s youngest black boxing promoter Spencer Fearon, who like Thomas, gave Frampton the nod. “I’m really feeling that the young man Barry McGuigan has got, Carl Frampton, could be special," Fearon continued, "Never have I witnessed such dynamic viscosity in someone's face on our shores. He is very technical [and] has equal distribution of weight, which makes his equilibrium spot on. Reminds me of Miguel Cotto’s boxer-puncher style with good head movement. If groomed correctly, he will become box office.” The stage is set for Frampton to take up the mantle from Bernard Dunne on Sept. 18. He has the backing of a great team behind him in Gerry Storey and Barry McGuigan, much the same way Dunne had Brian Peters and Harry Hawkins behind him. Where Bernard Dunne had television backing from RTE, Frampton will be taking centre stage on Setanta Sports Ireland. They say boxing goes in cycles. There was a momentary lull after Dunne’s retirement but as of yesterday’s announcement it would seem that Irish boxing’s future has never been brighter. It remains to be seen if Frampton will fulfil the Messiah like role painted by this boxing writer, but if one thing is for sure it’s that big time boxing is definitely here to stay in Ireland.
I think I was there at the club before. Westport is a beautiful spot. Doesn't Ray Moylette box out of St. Annes if I remember correctly?
