Pac fought Cotto instead of Shane, so I got no problem there. Don't forget that Cotto outboxed a younger, more active version of Shane than the one that Floyd fought.

its not pacs fault arums keeping his fights in house? righttttttt!!!

arum is quoted as saying he has to do it because of the purse pac demands from him when he fights.....and when somebody asked him what that figure is that pac is demanding and they said "10 mil"....arum laughed and said "yeah i wish".......pacs fights are in house because arum has to keep it that way in order to make any money from the promotion......so much for all that "pride and honor" that he fights for eh?

Come on dude. I wanted to see Mayweather fight Mosley in 2006 so obviously I'm not saying Margarito has to wait for 7 years. All he has to do is earn his shot by rebuilding his career. He shouldn't just walk in to this kind of fight. There are fighters who are much more deserving of high quality opportunities than him that always get ignored. Margarito hasn't even taken the first step of rebuilding himself, his image, his credibility, or his career and he gets this fight? You're honestly trying to defend this? How can you honestly compare Mosley's situation to Margarito's?

because the thread starter didn't say anything about rebuilding a carreer. All he said is he lost respect for Pac because he is giving a proven cheater a big payday. Floyd gave a proven cheater, Mosley, a big payday too.

I also think Margo should rebuild his career before going in against Pac, but you can't deny that Pac vs MArgo, especially at 154, has the potential to be an epic fight.

Margo will probably train like he's never trained before, even more than when he fought Cotto.

Well if thats the case then thats the case. The thread title asks have i lost respect for Pacquiao for giving Margarito a chance.
My answer is no, i have not lost respect for him, because he doesn't govern boxing and decide who does and does not give title shots.

And does Pacquiao fight for pride and honor? He leaves everything in the ring when he fights, he trains like a demon, and is involved politically back in his home country. So he certainly has something motivating him besides "cashing cheques".

Freddie Roach said publicly that they fought Cotto because he was on decline and would bring more money and they didn't fight Mosley because he was to good. He said this on video. You just admitted that you're cool with Pacquiao taking softer touches for more money.

Roach says alot of things. Roach said Floyd is on the decline and his legs are not what they used to be. Does that mean Pac should not fight Floyd anymore? Would that be a soft touch for more money?

So Roach says Mosley is too dangerous at 147 for the money he brings to the table, when Pac was still basically a Super Lightweight. Makes sense to me. Roach also said they would fight Mosley at a catchweight nad Mosley said he couldn't make it at first. When Mosley said yes, PAc had already plans to fight Cotto, the guy who beat Mosley.

You're response wasn't to the thread starter, it was to Interceptor. When Interceptor pointed out to pejevan that Mosley proved he was clean as a way of saying these are different situations, you said: "Mosley admitted he took PED's. Did you forget that?". It's obvious that you're still trying to hold that over Mosley's head for the sake of your argument that this Pacquiao-Margarito fight is acceptable right now. You tried to put Mosley and Margarito in the same boat when the situations are not similar at all.

my first response was to the thread starter. Quoted and all

Margo and Mosley's situations have a similarity in that both tried to cheat in at least one fight and probably in others. Mosley was successful in that one fight, Margo not. Floyd went on to give Mosley a big payday, but now Pac is criticized for possibly giving Margo a big payday because he tried to cheat.

Because I'd like to see this happen:

Margarito gives Pacquiao the beating of his life, hand-wraps and all, for about nine rounds until the crowd rallies behind Pacquiao, Pacquiao begins to shake his arm like a psycho, left cross to the head, and finishes Margarito off with the running leg drop.

By making this statement, you once again admit that you're cool with Pacquiao taking soft touches for more money. You can't use the Super Lightweight argument after what Pacquiao did to Cotto. It's clear that the weight hasn't bothered him at all.

Unlike Cotto, Roach wanted Mosley to make 140 and Mosley said he couldn't make that weight. He never said he wouldn't fight at 145.

This my last response to you regarding anything involving Pacquiao.

Not in the least I have ultimate respect for Manny Paquaio. He has done what no other so called superstar will do fight Tony Margarito. Daisy Duck is scared shitless of Tony thats obvious
How is it you call Tony Margarito a cheater when nothing has ever been really proven against him but readily accept illegal steroid abusers like Shane Mosely , Roy Jones jr & James Toney to continue to box & earn big $$$$$$$$$$$$ That is HYPOCRITICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
