Why was shane "old" when he fought Floyd but Bhop was "timeless" when beating Pavlik?

    nigguh u crazy

nobody beat hoya like shane did, tito got an obvious gift after getting his ass outboxed

mosley outhustled, outfought, outhearted a young prime oscar de la hoya in a fight which many recognize as one of the most exciting fights between 2 pound for pound fighters, this was the win that made mosley the pound for pound king at the time.

I hate how people think Maywaether gets all this criticism that noone else gets.

Look at what I posted BEFORE Mosley fought Cotto in 2007.

look at what some of the biggest Mayweather apologists were saying

fair enough if you say it, ill believe you. you have no reason to lie when it would be so easy to disprove.

but even still, so a few of you picked mosley, the vast majority, including the bookies picked margo.

im sure some people believed douglas would beat tyson, and rahman would beat lewis, but it dont mean it was the smart choice.

hindsight is 20/20 but it dont prove timetravel. just because a fighter ends up winning, doesnt discredit the fact he was a huge underdog.

i bet about 90% of the boxing community picked margo to win, dont mean they where stupid, means they went off the form book. and mosley ripped that formbook into pieces when he destroyed margo.

it was a great victory, imo his best one. you obviously differ in that opinion, but you must appreciate it was a fantastic victory.

Every fight and every fighter is different.

Morales lost to raheem and then beat manny pacquaio.
    Manny pacquiao destroyed barrera.
Barrera went toe to toe with Marquez.
marquez gave manny the most brutal beating he ever took.
Hatton was mauling and semi-effective against floyd at points.
Pacquiao took hatton out like he was an amateur.

You HAVE to judge each fighter and each performance they have independently.

Mosley got called old because he was gassed in 3 rounds, breathing through his mouth and barely throwing punches.

Hopkins got called timeless because Pavlik was supposed to beat him like he did taylor(who basically had 2 draws with hopkins)

Too much cross connecting in performances. Each guy is responsible for how they look in each fight.

i agree. that is why i seperate a victory over margo by pacman in november to a victory over margo by mosley a year and half ago.

at the time i thought mosley was in danger of being seriously damaged. instead he put on a clinic.

that is why i see it as great. it werent a lucky punch, it was a domination, like douglas vs tyson. it was wholly impressive and i cannot place any other victory higher than that one.

actually even alot of people from the boxing community picked mosley, roger mayweather, freddie roach, eddie mustafa muhammad to name a few

mosley was an underdog but not a huge one, margo at best couldn't hold de la hoyas jockstrap

ask anyone where they rank margo and where they rank a prime de la hoya in their atg lists and that would prove my point.

He was like a 3-1 underdog..

Ring magazine experts 17 out of 20 picked floyd to win by UD.

    I have the issue.

fair play to ya, but even then you had him at #15. what was he after the fight?

    number 3 mayber, number 4?

in that one fight he changed from an old fighter to a p4p star. that is why i rate the victory. it was the ultimate comeback and one he really should have retired after.

he will prob lose to mora and then he will be back on the shot wagon again.

not the point. noone doubts that prime odlh is better than prime margo.

but it was prime mosley that beat odlh, and a supposedly old mosley who beat margo.

that needs to be taken into account.

B-hop wasn't timeless, he was just beating a guy who had no business above 160. As for Shane being old, it is hard to tell given that prior to the Margarito fight he looked pretty mediocre. That said he did what he had to do with Margarito, and that is the fight he was judged on coming in.
