His offense has been great so far. It's been years since he's came close to losing a fight.

 

Bruce Lee was actually an amature boxer in Hong Kong growing up and said to have won a championship in hong kong in 1958. One trainer actually said he could have been a top 3 lightweight if he ever decided to become a boxer.

Also Bruce fought all of the time growing up. As to why he was never successful in school.

Depends on your definition of "better". Floyd in his prime had a more comprehensive offensive style than Ali (and still does). Floyd, at his best, throws body shots, lead hooks, lead rights, jabs to the head and body, etc.. Ali, despite having the ability to "get the stoppage", was primarily a headhunter.

 

Pease. His offense is one dimensional. Jab to the body, lead hook, lead right. That's all he does. He doesn't even throw combinations. You can't be considered a great offensive fighter if you don't even throw combos. Floyd is a great defensive fighter, not offense.

 

Unfortunately, what you say is true. People think Rockgloves is some sort of offensive dynamo because he plods forward and literally has no other way to win a fight. He has one formula, and we've seen what happens when it goes wrong (see Mosley vs. Rockgloves).

 

The question was "prime for prime". If you think Floyd's offense was one dimensional in his prime, you haven't seen his prime.

If his offense was one dimensional, dont you think people would be able to stop it, instead of the fac that he lands a t50% a clip one of the highest connect percentages in boxing. If his offense was one dimensional why was Shane Mosley whos fought some of the hardest most dynamic punching fighters in boxing history backing away from Floyd?

cus shane was shot and old that's why. A prime shane would have buldozed into Floyd.


I don't think a prime Floyd was one dimensional offensively, he was pretty damn good , but he still potshotted too much instead of letting his hands fly. He would have been a better fighter if he threw combos.

Today, his offense comes down to three different punches basically, that he just spams over and over again. The fact that an old Mosley and Marquez can't do anything about it doesn't say a lot.

Some boxers however roll one aspect prettily into one fluid motion, playing defense while thorwing a puunch. Hence, they are called counter-punchers. But that is still two components.

Some boxers however compartmentalize thses into two obvious components, and that is why they are either labelled defensive fighter or offensive fighters.

So it does not exist. Turning a defense into an offense is bull****.
