Why was shane "old" when he fought Floyd but Bhop was "timeless" when beating Pavlik?

Hopkins, foreman. Off top of my head.

 

Mosely has lost 6 of his last 15 fights . Not exactly prime is it, but the guy was taking tough fights.

 

Isn't many in history is it. Foreman''s wasn't a great win more a hail Mary right hand.

 

Shane was only old cuz he was fighting floyd ...when he was fighting a young and fresh 26 year old andre berto he was a heavy favorite..

Cant deny 38 is old though...but by no means was he as "past it" as some claim...as i recall everyone said floyd would never step into the ring with him...than when it signed all that went out the window and he was old...

 

Partly fight fans silly tendency to make excuses for why someone lost or looked bad against a better fighter.

However, there is some truth in it. Hopkins relies more on technique, which gets better with age, whereas Mosely relies more on athleticism, which gets worse.

Jermaine Taylor will suck donkey balls if he fights into his late 30s. Floyd Mayweather Jr could fight at 40 and still be fairly competitive.

 

Shane looked good against Margarito because he executed his game plan perfectly and Margarito couldn't do anything about it. Against an opponent you easily figure out so early anyone can look great and Shane kept building up confidence as the fight went because his opponent did nothing to silence it.

The Hopkins case should define that more for you. Calzaghe's fighting style isn't exactly similar to Pavlik and that's very obvious. Hopkins can look good against someone as one-dimensional and predictable as Pavlik but struggles in a close tough fight against someone like Calzaghe. What's amazing about what Hopkins does is he's able to do it at his age.

I guarantee if Floyd was less dominant he would have been given more credit. FACT.

 

if he beats paul williams he will be some bum that was never anygood... that got outclassed by sergio...if he beats sergio...they might say that old **** with him... and say..he was a bum and finished... i mean...they say that about shane mosley now...

if he fights berto..it would be..yeah well...he is fighting a guy that "all the sudden" collazo beat...and ducked mosley... if he fights..bradley... they will mention him as a bum from his lack luster performance with abregu..

mosley was game. has known power and skill and got a nice one on mayweather early in the fight. everyone got on their feet...in amazement...that mayweather would be actually hit with a hard shot... mayweather didn't get anymore of that after that....

pac get's morrales'd and marquez's enough times... even against a turtle like clottey...

i'm not sure who will cry first.... buboy..or manny.

everyone wanting this fight...is going to get it... and my pick is mayweather ..making it look simple.
