How would the Spoon that gave Holmes all he could handle do against the Ruddock that gave Tyson all he could handle?

Spoon had better skills in 1983 than Ruddock of 1991 ever had.........

But, Spoon was lazy, as later Ruddock proved to be, as well......

STILL! Timmy Spoon was better in the long run..............

    Ruddock fizzled badly......

    Good Match.

Two of my all time faves!!

I have tons of Respect for Witherspoon and I actually think he is a better fighter then Ruddock. I know Spoon if you scratch the 2nd Bonecrusher smith fight (you know the one in which he couldn't have cared less) had a really good chin. So he would be able to take most of Ruddocks bombs.

I think Ruddock also could handle Spoons heavy over hand right since I feel as though Tyson is a heavier puncher and Ruddock took his for 12 with a broken jaw and was still there banging in the 12th.

So all that being said I pick Ruddock by a KO9. I see Spoon ahead on the cards but I think Razor catches him and finishes him. Clean KO for Razor.

Tyson in my eyes took so much from Ruddock. That guy that was bombed out early against Lewis and the guy who lost to Morrison was no where near the fighter that THIS RUDDOCK was. He kept his punch as that is the last thing 2 go, but he just couldn't take a shot post Tyson like he could pre Tyson. For what its worth Mike was never the same again either, you can chalk that up to Ruddock or Prison or both.. I would say a little of both.
    Anyway Ruddock KO9!!

The Spoon Keeps him at bay with the jab, then starts getting his overhand right across and forces a ref. stoppage late in the fight.

    :roll::roll::roll:

When one eye roll just ****ing isn't enough.

-Lewis knocked out a guy that went the distance with Tyson its not the end of the world.

Why can't you accept the huge bombs that Ruddock took in 19 rounds of brutal war with Tyson damaged his punch resistance?
Just look at the horrific powerpunching beating he received in the rematch; his jaw was broken in round 4 and his face was disfigured with swelling until he looked like the ****ing Elephant Man.:!:

Well that's your opinion which you are entitled 2, but I am also entitled 2 mine. And I don't think Lewis was as big a puncher as Tyson sorry. Ruddock just was not sturdy on his feet anymore after the Tyson fight. Lewis is a big puncher, but if Ruddock can get up from Tysons best shots then he should have been able to do the same (in my eyes) in round 2 against Lewis.

I agree, Tyson 85-89 was a whole different animal!

But the one that fought Ruddock was still very good!!

I think that once Rooney was gone and Don King brought in Wright and Snowell, Mike changed, so technically after the Spinks fight. He just was not the same guy.

Indeed I know that and I agree.
I just think it's silly when people include 1989 in their opinion of Tyson's best years and yet leave out 1991.
Tyson hooked up with Giachetti after the Douglas fight and while he looked sloppy annihilating Tillman & Stewart in 1990, come 1991 I believe that Richie had crafted the best non-Rooney version of Tyson.

    On topic: Ruddock late KO.

Poor Bonecrusher get's so undersold for this victory. Bonecrusher was a HUGE puncher, very underrated. He could bomb anyone out, he caught spoon cold and then finished him off. I don't see where the dive was. I know many posters here think it was, but they better show me some valid evidence before I believe it.

The brutal destruction of Witherspoon appears legit to me too, I can't understand why some people think it looks like he threw the fight.
    Bonecrusher indeed had incredible power.
