Eubank avoided almost every major rival of his era yet is revered on here like a God, I dont understand it. Ricky deserves more respect but 12 is still too high.
HH; Why the **** would I bother doing that? That's a stupid allegation to make, get the MODs to do an IP check of you don't believe me, I am not Strongback (no offence Strongback)
I know quite well that there are plenty of people who are interested in pre-war Boxing but its just my opinion.
I joined last year but never posted. I'm a regular on another board. I've nothing against Hatton. Naz, Holmes and Tyson are a different story.
HH; Fair enough. I edited when I realised how harsh I'd been. My problem is whydid you assume it was me? Do you honestly think I need te gratification of creating a pseudonym to argue with? Think about it.
1.Joe Calzaghe 2.Randy Turpin 3.Ken Buchanan 4.Henry Cooper 5.Lennox Lewis 6.Ricky Hatton 7.Nigel Benn 8.Chris Eubank. 9.Hamed 10.Carl Froch
I wasn't trying to state the obvious but was just trying to highlight that it's hard to find 12-15 British fighters that have done more than Hatton.
The search function is so ****ing **** these days I can't locate my past lists and paste it here...but I guess it would be something like this. Though I do rate Calzaghe a little lower in the cold light of day and I don't have Buchanan as high I once did. Fitzsimmons Wilde Lewis Kid Lewis Driscoll Calzaghe Buchanan Welsh Lynch Berg
It's not just how many titles you've picked up, it's who you beat and how you beat them. Hatton has a decent enough resume; the win over Tszyu is very good, but Tszyu was on the slide and not an ATG IMO (although one of the best 140lbers of the last 20 years) but Hatton never appeared true class in many of his top fights. Roughed it out with Maussa (who was admittedly awkward) and stunk the place out against Urango (one of his best wins IMO) Conteh on the other hand was majestic, dominated the opposition in some of his more lauded wins (Ahumada, Lopez) and competed very well with one of the greatest light heavyweigths of all time in a fight that could've gone either way (I scored it to Saad myself) I don't like giving fighters kudos for where they were thought of as being in the P4P list either; I go by quality of opposition and the way they beat that opposition. Interesting thus far though :good
Conteh and Turpin just miss out in mine; honorable mentions. Two of the most talented fighters on any list thats for sure and I would never argue with them ranked anywhere from maybe 6-10.
The top 4 are really easy in these lists, I don't think you can see any other names except the Lewis's, Fitz and Wilde unless you're a spaz. The order could perhaps be debated but not the names. 5-10 is more debateable and there are a lot of fighters that could make these places but Hatton and McGuigan are pushing it.
