It looks like KP's weight increase came mostly from to much weight lifting. He completely stopped lifting weights and made some dietary changes, and lost the muscle mass that had him as high as 192. Recent information from inside Team Pavlik said Kelly is currently walking around at 176 pounds. That's right in line with his old norm. Those of us who follow the middleweight division closely have known for a long time that the division is headed into another great era. It's packed with marketable young talent. The Jacobs/Pirog fight this coming Saturday night may very well mark the "unofficial" beginning of the new era. Pavlik has indicated a willingness to hire a sports nutritionist and a world class conditioning coach. He has also indicated a willingness to make serious changes in his approach to training camp. Kelly Pavlik is a proud man who want his titles back. I think he'll spend his money, bust his ass, and do what he needs to do to stay at 160.
...Maybe...Didn't you actually say when you saw the weigh-in for Martinez on high definition that you knew he wasn't right and that he was flabby though? Something like that?
No -- I said I could see a problem as soon as he took his shirt of before the fight. He looked bad. He did not look like he did two weeks before the fight: - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIt5YxQ6GOI[/ame] - - I am by no means certain Pavlik can stay at 160. I think it's clear that he wants to, but like my grandpa used to say, "want in one hand and **** in the other, and see which one gets full the fastest!" I think his willingness to jump on a Chavez fight was because that fight would have given him a relatively safe way to test the waters and find out if he can still be effective at 160. Who the **** really knows:think
Well, now, hold on, Boo. You may have edited it but it was quoted by several posters first, my man. You were talking flab.
Would have to agree with this completly he might just beat andrade, but he would b ko'd by evry1 else that u mentioned. Locket Rubio Espino Arent exactly worth mentioning those middle weight straps seem to be cursed since Bhop lost them. They seem to go severly down hill after winning them.
You can see from the video that two weeks before the fight KP was a very solid 180. Two weeks leter he weighed in at 159.5. The rapid loss of lean muscle leaves loose skin behind; "flab."
How much lean muscle could he have lost? If he was 180 to 178 after rehydrating? From solid to flabby in two pounds in two weeks? Ah, well...let's hope staying at 160 isn't delusional. :conf
I've seen all kp's fights and to me he hasn't looked the same since the first fight with taylor. He's been slower in every fight since then imo. If he's going to make a successful return against someone who isn't a bum he needs to get back some speed he had in the taylor fight(and before) and learn how to cut off the ring better. He's also got to stop standing straight up trying to catch his opponents punches so much, kelly has pretty good defense but he can only catch 3 punches before the 4th and 5th get through his guard.
