Turpin probably has the best win of any British fighter, but let's not kid ourselves that Robinson wasn't on a drinking and shagging tour at the time.

    Lewis is #1 :deal

Conteh was far from majestic in the 2nd Saad Muhammud. He was doing his drunk man impression in that fight.

Lets have a look at Conteh's world championship fights:

Mate Parlov - Beat Conteh (had a couple of defensives to his name a two time champ)

Jorge Victor Ahumada - Never won the title

Lonnie Bennett- jouneyman who got one shot at the title and lost that shot to Conteh.

Alvaro "Yaqui" Lopez - Never won the title - 5 tries and 5 fails

Matthew Saad Muhammad - One close fight and one where he was a disgrace. The second fight being possibly the most disappointing performance in a title fight by any British fighter ever.

Looking at Ricky's world title fight record I would have him in front of Conteh:

    Manny Pacquiao
    Floyd Mayweather,
    José Luis Castillo
    Juan Urango
    Luis Collazo
    Carlos Maussa
    Kostya Tszyu

Back in the 70's and 80's because there were only 2 titles - that were usually held by the same person anyway - you'd have to beat a world class fighter (or several) to get a shot.

These days, beat fringe domestic level fighters, beat some chump in the top 15 and make an offer. Job done.

Yeah 606 is worse than on here for banning people for what you can post and this forum is bad enough.

I think ESB is about right, barring censoring Frank Warren related topics and requesting streams.

All I did was call Tony Smith an overrated Aussie ****, I speak the truth!

Vacant WBC title was also on the line along with IBO.

By the way I'm no Ricky fanboy. Just comparing fighters and I think Ricky did more. Conteh had more talent than Ricky but the drink and women were the problem. Ricky made the most of what he had until he started stuffing his face. All the same he had pretty much climbed to the top of his personal mountain at that stage.
