No, there should be no agreement and no punishment for making the 154 limit.

why should pac feign injury for a lmw fight just because margo weighs above 150? that is the ultimate ***** move.

it is a 154 fight and neither boxer should be punished for weighing anything under 154.

did cotto feign injury when clottey weighed 147? no. did he make him pay millions? no. you know why? because it was a 147 fight and clottey weighed 147.

how do you not get this?

How do you not get that there is nothing you can do to stop two fighters making an agreement between themselves if they both think it is in their interests to do so?

Why do you have to fight at the maximum weight in a weight class for it to be a legitimate title fight?

This doesn't bother me because the title means nothing and Margarito can easily make this weight without being drained.

I would have a problem with it if the title was lineal/undisputed.

Well if it is so detrimental for these fighters to fight at lmw, why the hell are they doing it?

why should they make up their own weight class and yet still get sanctioned by the wbc?

maybe you cant stop it, but it is still bs.

cant make riddick bowe fight lewis, but dont mean we have to like it when he vacated his belt.

cant make floyd fight pac, dont mean we have to like it when he goes on vacation.

sanctioning a 154 title fight where the fighters cant weigh 154 is fukin ridiculous.

See a large chunk of boxing history for your answers.

The only thing I wonder is why do you care? When we have a multitude of 'world' sanctioning bodies, with multiple titles each, is there really anything that can make them seem ridiculous. This is the WBC, home of the diamond belt, silver belt and decades of corruption. Do you really care that much about the integrity of their title?

if 2 wrongs dont make a right, then 3 wrongs certainly dont.

the whole notion of declaring someone a 154 champ in a fight where they couldnt weigh 154 is pathetic.

almost up there with leonard winning a belt in 2 divisions in one night.

makes the whole "multi weight champion" achievement seem a shambolic fraud

Would it make you feel better if they both come to the weigh in with four pound weights on and weigh in bang on the 154 limit?

It aint about weighing at 154. it is about having the option to weigh within the divisional limit.

I agree.....but Catch weights are not being demanded ALL the time by most. Even in Manny's case. This would be # 2. As long as there is a reasonable case for requesting a catch weight there shouldn't be any problems. Many previous boxers and fighters have done catch weights when there was reasons to do so.
