    Lou Nova... I forget the name of the punch... "The Atomic Punch"... yeah, well, Tony Galento developed the full face gouge and knee to the groin... which proved a bit more effective.

    Seamus, right about Lou Nova, and the infamous "COSMIC PUNCH " he developed for Joe Louis in 1941.The Brown Bomber kod Nova And his punch in the 6th rd. Then it became the "COMIC" punch, methinks !

    I knew the answer right when I saw the thread. Joe Louis talked about the "Cosmic" punch in his biography i have read 39 times. Lou Nova put up a dreadful performance against the champ, perhaps due to fear.

    Nova "developed" the COSMIC punch as a publicity stunt, so he could get a shot with Louis...Big Mistake !
    Nova who I saw once in MSG was a good fighter who stopped Max Baer twice, who became an actor after he retired from boxing...
