Just found this (pretty sure this is Son's of Cuba just used on U.S TV), I hope you will enjoy. It should be on Storyville on BBC with DVD coming out in September. yeah thought i chuck it on here before i forget about it tomorrow. I'm gonna settle down in a min and give it a watch. Always been interested in Cuban boxing.
Really Enjoyed that. Them kids go through everything you'd expect of a 24 year old professional. Cristian was 10 going on 30. Them boys have to mature quickly. I will keep eye out to see if he does make it to 2012. Even the coach was crying at the end. Something we take here as competition to them is life.
well it was released in 2009 but in this video it says 2006. I think them championships at end may of been 2007's. The ending was emotional. Lovely to see the lad win and his dad with warm words for him. Gutted Pastery Boy Santos didn't fight would of liked to see him win. Loved the bit when he got found out ''Santos owes us 17 peso's''
yeah some parts i could understand and could see why there harsh but at some points i thought ''there just kids'' but they churn out champions and the boys and families want it. To see what they train with and where shows you don't need fancy state of art hq's. Humble surroundings are just as good.
yea specially when they start crying Sad that his dad won all them medals for cuba but barely has a pot to **** in. hitched 4 rides just to see his son box. good on him
yeah poor lad knew he cop it off camera. But you could see the coach loved them kids like a father. Crying after selecting the squad. I mean Cristian looked more like a 13 year old then a 10 year old. Surprised they have 2min fights must say. Yeah the mother had a fair better place, Father was slumming it. There loyal people. I couldn't slum it if i had talent like there's i'd do what Gamboa and co have done. Fair play to them as you say he hitched 7 rides to see his son.
:deal yes that's my one gripe. I noticed they hit car tyres and do a lot of reaction and footwork based drills. Would of been nice to see them box and how they work on pads as you say. To be honest that Santos looked lovely boxer in shadow boxing. He was clearly weight drained for the sparring. Poor sod.
