Theres enough disent of whether he's even a Brit!! He does get his due here though, I think he made the Top 3 in the Brit HW/ LWH and Middle rankings.
If you take Fitz as British I didn't see any better Brit. The man was naturally 160lbs and really only a middleweight but was still able to win the HW title. First ever to win in 3 weight divisions. P4P probably in with a shout as a Top 10 all time great. His problem, as is often discussed, is that he didn't really fit into any weight class which makes him similar to Sam Langford in that sense. I've read people say Fitz and Langford need a different list all of their own. The problem wih Fitz is that none of his actions lead us to believe he saw himself as an Englishman.

yeah that's the only reason I'd go back :rofl Fitz was an American citizen at the time of arguably his greatest victory. I find him to ambiguous to truly couture him as British, but I regard him hgher P4P than any of our fghters.

I haven't seen enough footage of the old guys but I doubt they would have the same combination of chin, hand speed, combination punching, work rate, stamina & punch output as Calzaghe. Guys like Hagler, Steward and Leonard all rate him highly. The only flaws are lack of power because of his slaps, but that's because he knackered his hands years ago. You can't blame him for changing his style, and before the injuries he racked up a good number of legit KOs. Also, despite rather thin opposition, he did beat them all. That is extremely difficult.
