This is a spin off from my other thread...

it's interesting to think what would have happened if Oscar fought Margarito

    Oscar Fights Margarito
    Manny doesn't get Oscar fight
Manny doesn't get super star status
    Shane doesn't get margarito fight
Oscar "probably" beats Margarito @ 154
Floyd rematches ODLH and gets the W
    pac "probably" rematches JMM

who knows what happens after that... Pacquiao probably would have still fought cotto since both of those guys are arum fighters....

who knows tho... that **** would changed so much in boxing

It was technically Oscar who's responsible for the catchweight king. Thank you Mr. Oscar. You are the gift that keeps on giving.

Well, yes and no. It might have happened this way but Oscar had made a statement that he was moving down to 147 period. Not for one fight, but to finish off his career. First fight back at this weight would have been Mayweather. That fell through but his ambition for welter hadn't fallen through. That's where all the big names were. More than likely Oscar would have fought Margarito on his home turf. Nazeem wouldn't have been there checking wraps (if Margo really was up to no good) and Oscar would have been just as famished as he was vs Pacquaio. Another outcome in other words is DLH gets ko'd by Margarito and Margarito being the biggest fighter around today maybe getting a fight vs Mayweather or maybe not.

that washed up version of Oscar loses to just about any top WW of the time. any version of Oscar before Manny or Floyd absolutely destroys or humiliates Margarito who's always been overrated IMO.
